Russell has come back with some prices which are on my work PC, so i'll get them up tomorrow. Nothing earth shattering however as they have very little leeway on the price. Exact ones coming tomorrow. They hold .5L wayne.

After cleaning a bit of gunk out of the inlet plenum today I guess it might be a good plan. Feck me does this car shift now with a new TPS and slightly enlarged TB. Completely shows up how fecked the old TPS was!!

so are most people just venting to atmosphere and blocking of inlet on manifold?

this is what I wanted to do but read you need to keep negative crankcase pressure, so what are the draw backs of not having negative crankcase pressure?

also noob question - what would you use to blank off the inlet on manifold?

Thing is with the breather filter bit is it will breath strong burning oil smell alot which then heads towards the vent system that stinks out inside the car, so putting the filter on a long pipe to lower part of engine is best.

Would this stuff be ok to use for the breather or would the oil degrade it somehow?

Just I have seen hoses that have 'a fluorsilicone liner' and wondered if it was necessary for this purpose? Plus I cant find any of the right diameter with this lining

So has it actually been decided which tank is best and how best to fit it? Do we need one with a filter in top or is that really surplus to requirements?

the mocal ones are the best and u guessed it the most expensive. They have a patented filter/breather on the top which is designed to let it breath but hold some back pressure. They also look a million times less tacky than any others ive seen.

one here

what size pipe inlets do we need on the oil tank?
do we take both the crank and the cam cover pipes to the catch tank, or just the cam one and let the crank breather go to the cam.
i think theyre both different size pipes any idea what size they are?
is it ok to block the sensor part of the breather thats on the throttle body off then? what would be the best way to do this?
whats this negative crankcase thing about??

same place has these adjustable wishbones for a 205!!

How much!
They've only welded a bit of threaded tube on and made a pin!

Get one with a large outlet for a gert breather filter, better due to the increased cylinder blowby with tuned engines. My diy one has 35mm outlet and a polini bike filter from ebay(black ones with 90deg bend), great quality, hasnt dropped to bits like most k&n ones ive seen. Looks messy but its worked in reducing oil throwing antics. Mellow

ok so this is the throttle body side of the breather, i think the small pipe comes from the fuel charcoal vapour canistor, so i presume that stays, the bigger pipe is removed and the bit where it fitted is blanked off..(is the sensor thing here the throttle heater????).
that gets you to this part:

one of the pipes comes from the crankase/sump into the rocker , the other comes from the rocker down to the throttle bodynow there is 2 ways here i think, one is to have the part that did go to the throttle body going into the catch tank or 2: the crankase breather going straight to the catch tank, and the cam breather pipe also going to the catch tank.
Is this the only 2 breathers on the engine??, witch is the best way? i think no2, but then you obviously have to blank one of the holes up thats left on the rocker.
is it a good place to mount the catch tank on the side of the battery tray, abover the rocker covers height so it doesnt fill up with oil to fast.

I think it would be best having it below the rocker cover so it would be easier for all the crap to flow out.

If I'm wrong please correct me!

looking under my engine it cant go above the rocker cover(height wise) , best place is on the side of the batery tray i think, if its too low i reckon it will fill up with oil 2 fast.
it would be nice for somebody to say wether the description above is correct!!

I've seen GTi's with catch cans made from a fairy liquid bottle and a peice of water hose piping. Laugh my ass off

I'm sure they do a similar job Unsure

It's not a bad price though, and they don't look to bad in the engine bay. (next to the right hand side of the battery)

do you guy think this will be OK for our engine?:

Ebay catch tank

I mean... it has a capacity at around 0.5l - is that enough?

How often does that needs emptying?

Depends how buggered your engine is - some will be breathing a lot, others won't. That one should be fine I'd have thought.
