Here is the one that I bought off Rich yesterday that I have fitted a filter to.

A bit of a sweeping statement that!Doh
So what your saying is that no GTI6 or Rallye is worth modifying in any way because they have got "old engines"??Unsure
Lucky I spent £2200 getting mine fully rebuilt 10,000 miles agoWhistle
Cool

Not at all, the firm will do 10off for that price but with all the posts for other catch tanks on egay I diddnt know what was going on. Perhaps if one of these egay sellers was contacted & asked about a price for 10off you may get an even further reduced priceDunno
Cool

Is there any need for a filter on the top? Surely it'll allow some vapour to escape?

think its there to eliminate prssure build up in the tank that could potentially push the oil in the catch tank towards the throttle body.

hehe my manifold too oily for you midlife. LOL the filter is to allow it to de-pressurise. It has two inlet holes on it because on many engines you connect the crank case up to it and the cam breather, on our engines it goes up from the crank to head and then out the head again i think. The best setup from what i can see is to block up everything on the throttle body and plug everything into the catch tank, if its got a drain plug then connect this back up to the sump somehow Dunno then you have a nice clean cycle and you lose no oil. Why peugeot dont do this anyway is stupid if you ask me. Thing is i havnt looked into it 100% and from what i can remember there is another hose which comes round infront of the radiator which i have no idea about. The sensor will be okay unpluged i think because i think it just stops too much oil vapour going back though at low speeds so it doesnt hinder performance. After taking my inlet off ive decided to fit a catch tank because as midlife says they are ridiculously oily. Got me a nice red mocal one though Smile

You don't want that, you'll have aerated and moisture carrying oil going back to the sump No

John, You dont want to return the oil from the catch tank into the sump because it will be contaminated with all sorts of crap that has gassed off from the oil in the sump in the first place.
Edit, Bloody hell Phillip, you beat me to it again !!Doh

So has it actually been decided which tank is best and how best to fit it? Do we need one with a filter in top or is that really surplus to requirements?

Hi guys,
I have spoken to a friend/customer of mine at Forge Motorsport about getting a group buy going on either FMUNCT or FMUNCTCT products.

See here

Any interest?
I am hoping to get one too as I seem to be getting a fair bit of oil in the TB. Well I guess the poor thing has been driven by me for 65kLOL

Mine used to go into the intake side of turbo but had to be repositioned when i upgraded the turbo so it just sits in a bottle behind inlet manifold now Razz
