Can you get the timing out enough that it won't start after changing the cambelt?

Pins lined up fine, turned over by hand fine. Nothing appears to be hitting etc. No nasty noises when trying to turn over but sounds like its possibly retarded and not quite firing right, its trying.

Have I f**ked it up (well actually a neighbour/ex mechanic AA patrol, came out to help and kinda took over when I was at the tensioning stage so not entirely sure if he did anything different to what I'd have done).

Matter of belt covers off and try again with the timing pins?

Did you undo the cam pulleys and adjust them to suit? Was the bottom pulley ok and not subject to slipping so the timing pin hole was out of position?

Yeah. Loosened the cam pulleys and rotated clockwise. All 3 pins in ok.

Going to get a solid bottom pulley just to make sure.

Ben, I know this may sound daft but as your car has been parked up for a while I feel I should ask.... has it been run recently? Or has it not run since you parked it up?

Was running fine right before. Been firing it up and letting it turn over and run up to temp etc.

I swapped the motors about a few days before so I had more room to work on it

Not unplugged anything and left it off or removed the spark plugs for ease of turning it over and broke a wire to a coil pack connector or anything daft like that? Fuel pipes ok?

Sounds odd, must be something broken or disconnected...

I've been on my arse with covid unfortunately so only just getting over the worst of it. Still a major effort just climbing the stairs. Hopefully if we get a dry weekend over the next few weeks I'll try have a check of the timing etc. I've now got a solid bottom pulley as well.

Are you sure the exhaust valves have not slightly bent?
