Ok stuff and things have happenedLOL

Oil cooler is sorted along with fan wiring and other bits and pieces, it's now Ready for MOT and a bit of road use but still needs oil change, injectors changed and uprated brakes and stronger gears fitted before it sees a track...

Oh and I have a satchshift sitting in my garage!

Mine was struggling with coolant temps when driven hard for a long time since I went to high boost cooler or rather slightly bigger than norrmal high boost cooler... but I've changed it for a more sensible sized one. Also had the SC cooler behind the intercooler which won't have helped but wouldn't put the oil cooler there seems a stupid idea tbh.

Was it this car it was originally in front of the intercooler? Defeats the object doesn't it LOL

There is now airflow round the outside of the through the rad and I've blanked off the sides of the rad with plastic offcuts to force the air to go through the rad instead of past it. Also upped from.a.13 row to a 19 row oil cooler. Car is much happier but still think oil may get a bit too warm on track time will tell when I'm at brands soon.

May change to an open sandwich plate and maybe get more direct airflow to the oil cooler. The fact the car is low boost so standard compression running boost will always make for high temps anyway I would think.

UPDATE

The 6 is MOT'd, taxed and insured Smile

Drove it 60 miles from Devizes to Bournemouth this morning with no issues other than it didn't like idling in traffic

Afraid not mate, we're at the Nurburgring this weekend. Not with the track car I might add, she's not ready for a trip like this yet!

UPDATES!!!

So the GTI 6 is coming along nicely now, its been over with Rich Walker a few times and he has done some great work on it in the last 5 months.

The first visit last year to have some niggly bits finally sorted.

The wiring under the bonnet was checked and re-done where necessary then tidied up nicely:

Aluminium extension piece welded to the throttle body and correct filter fitted as well as a general under bonnet spruce up:

It now runs and idles much better.

New radiator fitted and charger cooler relocated and all cooling systems mounted properly on brackets:

Furthermore the following work has now been completed:

- Change engine oil & filter Silkolene Pro R 20W50 & OEM Peugeot Oil Filter
- Weber 3 Bar FPR
- NGK BKR7EIX Spark Plugs
- Bosch OEM Lambda Sensor
- Top engine mount welded/chocked
- Various Oil & coolant leaks sorted
- New Bosch 044 fuel pump and relay/wiring

Then last month it was over to Rich again to have the gearbox swapped, it now has KAD straight cut gears with phosphor-bronze bushings fitted along with new driveshaft seals, clutch for bush and OE Peugeot gear oil.

Oh and it now has a Satchshift which is decent:

The straight cut 3rd & 4th gears sound epic and altogether the car now drives very well, it's very quick.

Track day to do list:
- extended gearbox breather setup
- 4 pot brakes
- coilover suspension
- new tyres

At home after being treated to a wash

It's been a while, but things have happened...

Refurbed axle fitted:

- 21mm TBs
- Solid mounts
- Genuine Peugeot bearings etc
- Powder coated
- Lowered 30mm

The suspension has been overhauled and it now has Bilstein B8 dampers with Eibach -30mm springs

Stud and nut conversion all round

Willwood 4 pot conversion up front with new braided lines and Mintex M1155 pads

Also fitted an extended breather setup with filter to the gearbox and put in an additional 1 litre of genuine Peugeot gear oil

I thought I would go for some not very subtle track wheels, cyclones shot blasted and powder coated - the light in the pic makes them look pink - but they are a proper signal red colour

Now fitted with some brand new Dunlop DZ03 rubber Cool

I'll get some more pics up with the wheels fitted soon...

I see him most weeks, between work and all the running/training he does now he doesn't have much time for cars - although he is talking about re-commissioning the 205 to do some track days this year...

I'll let you know when I've booked a day, it will be its track debut so hopefully it goes smoothly...

Lovely car mate, should go well on track. My low boost hustles most stuff along - let me know if you ever get bored of it lol.

The brakes and tyres will give you a good edge in the corners, and you'll have tons of grunt in a straight line. Hope you have good brake fluid in the system.

Did you fit a Quaife diff in the end?

Thanks I am really pleased with it now, unlikely I'll get bored I don't use it enough for that to happen!

The brake system has been completely bled through and all new fluid put in, can't remember the spec but it was the best that Merlins had when I went in.

Yeh Quaiffe ATB, should do fine for now
