Looking good mate, but you missed off an advantage of the BMC (you should like this being a rallye owner too) , the standard airbox weighs a ton, so you should have a little bit of weight saving in there Cool

I do, but I'm going to hang onto it for a while until I'm sure I'm happy with the new setup. You'll be the first to know if a get shot of it though.

i found that the cold air feed pipes tend to compress slightly when booting it.........so i wrapped mine in duct and foil tape to stop this and it has helped. i'm thick of use metal and silcon pipes all the way to the fog to see if it makes a difference

Surely any collapse would be due to negative pressure inside the pipe? I'd be suprised if tape made a great deal of difference?

Took the old girl around Brands Hatch last week. It was "seasonably moist" in the morning, which caused the tale to step out a few times, but nothing too dramatic or worthy of soiling.
A dry line started to appear just before lunch, and by the time we were back on track it was dry and fast. There were some proper machines there, so it was good to be in amoungst them in my modest hot hatch.
I'd not been round Brands before, but i'll certainly put in more laps in the future. Whilst braking into, and pushing round Paddock Hill bend was a bit spicy in the wet, in the dry I soon fell in love with the corner, and was making up good ground on my mates R26.R on the exit.

Here's a couple of uninteresting pics and drive by vid so you can all to enjoy audio majesty of a BMC induction...

enjoy...

Wow, it sounds like it means business! Especially when compared with the Renault that preceded it and some of the machinery post fly-by. You must be chuffed. Thumbs up

As some of you will know, on the 14th of May, some sausage jockey ploughed into the back of the Rallye in traffic

stuffed up the arse..

Damage was relatively light, but these babies don't command a high value so it wasn't long before I was offered a sum of money that wouldn't quite replace the suspension alone.

The other guy (sausage jockey) accepted full liability early on, so I was quickly furnished this comfortable, if soulless machine.

After untold hours/days/weeks on the phone, to what was a ludicrous number of parties, I eventually managed to sucessfully contest the percieved value attached to the car, and consequently authorisation for repair. The weeks continued to roll by whilst the garage tried to get hold of the little rear panel below the boot (seemingly not carried much by Peugeot as 306's are just written off these days with little more that a gust of wind and a collision with a Twix) but eventually, and with trumpets sounding and fireworks illuminating the sky, the old girl was returned to me today!

I'm not going to worry about the slightly generous spacing between the letters of P E U G E O T for now, and instead excitedly wipe by relieved brow as a I prepare for the 'Ring on Friday!!

Fingers crossed I don't stuff it into the barrier on the first bend....

Fantastic news and well done saving it. It is a shame they are worth peanuts as the 6 and Rallye really are some of the best handling, most tactile cars I've ever driven.

However, a lot of cars go through the 'worth pennies' stage before values start climbing, but it is too soon to say whether that will happen to these. Remember cheap old Escorts before they became uber-fashionable?

Love this thread Braymond!

I'm basically hoping to have a very similar CDA setup as yourself, could you tell me where you got hold of the tapered cone mini-filter, the flexible tubing and the end piece of the tubing please?

Keep it up!!

Dave

Mini filter was one of these (18mm I think but you'd better check)

mini breather

but not from that particular shop . In fact I think I got all the bits I needed from various eBay shops. ASH make all manor of hoses, pipes and tubes so that would be a good place to start.
