140 is not good at all, but then you need to ask how accurate that is Wink

if it really has gone to 140+ i would change the oil and filter,

also get a cooler, my oil is running around 105-110 VERY MAX on track

you have waaaaaaay to many different colours in that engine,

Yup, not good on the oil temp, need to get my cooler fitted but at the minute looking at different oils. Could do with a change soon, so will fit the cooler then. Just unsure on what oil to buy. Currently running Royal Purple, but its f**king expensive. What do you use mate?

I use it for some road use, and occasional track use, so probably the same as you.

Also, in regards to engine bay, only 4 colours: red, blue, silver and black. Not too bad Laugh

Also working nights next week, so should have some time during the day to crack on with a few bits on the car. Still need to investigate the fans/cooling issues, and a few other bits like oil cooler fitting etc.

I did manage to sort the knocking noise out before Pugfest though, it was the brake caliper to hub mounting. Bolts seemed to go tight when I did them up, but after some nipping up with a big bar, seems to of sorted it out Big grin

After melting to death on the way to Pugfest, thought it would be an idea to try and stop some heat getting in the car by wrapping the downpipe to first silencer. I will add that I have no heat shield here due to space, I have some of that heatfoil tape stuck to underside of the car, but doubt its anywhere near as effective as a heat shield Laugh

Quick wrap for now (still waiting on getting new downpipe back...)

Also dropped the front down 10mm, but feel it maybe needs a bit more. Will get a better picture at some point which shows whole car..

More to come over next few days/next week...

The TD 1.2's with R888's were left at the top of the hill with Stan etc. I didnt fit them to the car as only did a couple of runs. The night before after a few drinks, I managed to put a hole in my foot messing around on a stanceboard Doh

This c**ting thing...

After.. (LOL @ 7057Sam)

I had the exact same thing with my brake caliper on the HDi. Knocking did my tits in. I'd replaced ball joint and droplink and it persisted. I was checking everything and it was only as i leaned on the caliper and it moved i twigged what was going on. Fail.

    Yup Yes

I had put half the beam together and fitted it. Checked every single bolt on the beam, and all was fine, but didn't check the caliper bolts Doh

Only at the point I was lost and started trying to move every single part I noticed the caliper moved slightly.

Not really a lot going on with this at the minute, had no time to fix it!

Still need to change the thermostat and change coolant, see if I can get fans working again as they should be. Need to get the new oil cooler fitted, but have no idea where/how to mount it.

Bought a TRS helmet net and have no idea how to fit it, and also got given a "washer bag" that replaces the washer bottle etc. Probably mount it in the car to create some space/lack of weight at the front? Again, no idea on how to fit Laugh

Went to buy some brakes, but some git outbid me at the last second! (Probably Aaron off here?)

Oh and a couple of the front lowering. Still think it needs to come down a smidge, but not for roads, bumps, potholes, speedbumps. Will just drop it down when it gets to a circuit if need be Wink

Not really a lot going on with this, but I got inspired by Coskev and Dan to update it, in spirit of keeping the forum alive Smile

Since the last update, I havent really used the car much, nor have I had time to do anything with it.

I am still in the process of relocating washer bottle to in car washer bag, just need to pull wiring through and extend. (Pics available if need be)

I still have a fan issue, although seems to be intermittent and wasnt any problem when it was at the garage last week Angry

I had a trackday on friday at an Airfield in Essex. Generally crap surface, but its a good laugh and can proper chuck the car around and get used to what happens. This was good for me as it was p**sing it down, and I have a new rear suspension setup, and no ABS that I need to get used to. Better to do it on an airfield than on a track IMO.

Car was great (after coolant fan switch was unplugged again) and was a lot of fun. Cocking rear wheel everywhere and from others watching, apparently still lifted a rear wheel, during a slide Laugh

Was a good laugh though, one of the fastest all day, showing up the big power RWD cars and managed to get there and back without calling the AA!

Plans are still to get thermostat, bitron and coolant changed, hope for the best. And still need to get the new oil cooler fitted. Does anyone want to come and help me with this? Smile I can provide tea and beer Yes

Only other thing to mention is I bought the carbon coilpack cover from Sam (7057Sam) so will get this sorted at the weekend and get a picture up of engine bay tartyness!

    Thats all for now folks...

Spent 10 minutes on the car yesterday before I got distracted and did something else Doh

In the time I did spend, fitted my carbon coilpack cover I got from Sam, cheers mate.

    New and old

...and after a minutes work... Wizard

I then removed the scuttle panel and wiper motor and arms to access a predrilled hole to the car so I can sort wiring for my washer bag. I may do this tonight and get it finished.

Still unsure what to do with the car, not sure if it will be seeing any more track this year Sad So may just SORN it now and bring it back in spring when I have some pennies saved up...
