Right then people, I have been meaning to get one of these started for quite a while now, but never had the time to sit down and do it all. Thought I would make a start, and then do a bit at a time Yes

Lets start with how the car looked when I bought it from Carl. (I will advise that the purists on the forum probably won't like this thread LOL)

Since buying the car in May 2008, it has been used as my daily driver and was always the plan to make it to a "fast road" spec.

First on the list to do was a few cosmetic changes and a new exhaust.

Scorpion back box:

Coupled with the exhaust, I had a shiny inlet manifold fitted, plus my Viper induction kit:

While I was sorting out the backbox, I had a friend helping who said he would start swapping the manifolds over.

The friend in question was a qualified Pug mechanic so I left him to it. After being impressed with how much nicer my engine bay looked, it didnt last for long. Driving home the engine seemed to sound slightly tappy, and continued to get worse.

After seeking help on here, and talking to Carl I got it sent over to him. Turns out a washer had been dropped into the inlet port on the head, which found its way into the cylinder causing a few bent valves Cry

Expensive lesson of the day, dont try and save money getting a friend to do it for free, cost a lot more for an engine rebuild Yes

Starting to get confused what order things were done, but next was:

- Red 106 gti door badges
- Remove Peugeot badge from rear (was spaced out letters, I wasnt keen)
- Another new exhaust including magnex decat.. bwarrrp Big grin

More engine bay sprucing:

- New battery box lid
- Cleaned up rocker covers and cam carriers a bit
- OMP upper strut brace

Had to make a trip over to Northampton with a friend to pick up his MR2 turbo that had been remapped, would of been rude not to Dyno mine

The tyres on my cyclones were close to needing replacing and while I was looking at which tyres to buy, a set of Team Dynamics pro race 1.2's came up for sale with tyres. Made sense to buy them and sell my cyclones right? Done and Done, thanks Fletch Thumbs up

Now looking a lot like a rollerskate, it was time to get the suspension changed so the car could be lowered. I opted for some Avo adjustable dampers and Eibach springs. The front was lowered about 30mm, and the rear was done to match.

Ta-da Wizard

Should really get on with some work.. More to come later.

Yeah, Viper induction with forced air feed from next to foglight. Longlife SS exhaust with Magnex decat.

I was asked by the guy who RR'd it if the head had been skimmed (it has when I had bent valves) and he stated this would up the figure slightly too. I know all dyno runs should be taken with a handful of salt though Yes LOL

Few more cosmetic bits and bobs to continue the "black" theme.

- Valeo black mask headlights
- Smoked side repeaters
- Rallye fog light blanks
- Black bonnet badge

The escort is my best mates RS turbo Yes

It's now more of a driveway ornamant. He had a slight off last new year, and is still rebuilding it. Typical Ford owner thinking it needs restoring LOL

Forgot to mention (although it probably doesnt make much difference) the car had a PTFE inlet manifold gasket fitted with the new manifold.

they normally do say that, brother had a Ford Capri S 2.0 Jet black with only 38k on the clock! mint as they come, hit a curb at 40, rolled 6 times and went through the side of a church on his roof, what a tard! needless to say he wanted to repair it, but couldnt after he thought about the state of it!

Next on the list was trying to fulfill an urge that has been with me for the majority of the time I have been interested in cars.. throttle bodies Love

I bought a fell 45mm kit from Jenvey to have fitted to my car. I also bought an ECU but in the 13 months I had this sitting in my room, I never had the cash/time spare to get it all fitted and set up. I then decided to sell, and spend the money elsewhere on the car. Still think it's a bad move, but hope Velar gets good use out of them Smile

With trackdays in mind, I set about making some changes.

Brakes:

I decided to stick with standard brakes (I intended on using C5 steelies, so bigger brakes was not an option) Instead I decided to go for Mintex 1144 pads, new discs, braided brake lines and new fluid, and I have to say I am very happy with the setup.

Seats:

My mate was getting rid of some Cobra seats and harnasses, so £50 exchanged hands and we're onto a winner. I bought some subframes off here for about £60, and jobs a gudden.

Weight Loss:

As I had already fitted the PAS relocation kit (for TB's) the aircon had already been removed. I have also made the following weight loss;

- Spare wheel and cage
- airbags/ecu removed
- rear seats and panels
- centre console

I will be removing all the front carpets too when I get a chance.

Additional:

- OMP suade steering wheel
- Mocal oil cooler
- Set of sticky tyres (r888 front, yoko ao48 rear)
