Went to collect my freshly bored & decked block & polished crank this afternoon, £143 all in, not too bad I guessDunno
I also picked up the two new valves & collets from the stealers on the way past.
I guess I was quite lucky with the crank as they said after a mild polishing the journals were all comfortably within STD tolerance so I can now order the new uprated bearings from Richw.
I also need to do a bank transfer to lukejenks for a new waterpump & a set of valvestem oil seals.
I guess this weekend will be quiet as I'll be waiting for parts before assembly can start so I'll paint the block & head. My colour choice should raise a few eyebrowsWhistle

Cool

So it's not going to be an epic landscape scene that'll earn it a place in the royal gallery then?

I vote on bright yellow.

Small update time...
I got round to lapping in the two new valves today & then stuck what I could get of it into my shiney new parts washer.

I then set about fitting the freshly bored replacement block on my engine stand.
I'm waiting for valve stem oil seals, water pump, race spec bearings, head bolts & Richw uprated head gasket to arrive in the post so I decided to paint the block.

WARNING SUNGLASSES REQUIRED.......

First off I masked up the block, any threads, mounting points, top & bottom.

This is what I got to paint it with.

Now I did say get your sunnies on didn't I...

Now my roots are in rallying & I was always taught that everything under the bonnet should be painted a light colour (normally White) so you can see problematic oil leaks more easily, I'll be able to see a dead fly on this fooker from a mile awayLaugh my ass off

It should be nicely cured next week for when I'll hopefully start putting it back together.

Cool

My sig below has always said "get used to seeing the yellow one" since I joined years ago. That was a reference to my rear number plateNinja

You'll not be able to see any oil leaks for all the wasps swarming all over it.
