Ah well, I've got them in pieces already again LOL

John, you want to try the flutter stack first in the dampers, or just the standard digressive tapered stack first?

LOL

I'd hope so after 2 prototype sets Razz
They aren't standard mounting for yours 'cause you wanted the extra length - there's a bracket for the rear mount - but if you go back to standard length and sort the torsion bars out I can machine them to fit in the standard mount, same as everyone elses.

Flutter valve drops the damping force on small, sharp hits - expansion joints and the like, but it feels a bit different to normal damping, I'll stick a more conventional stack in first and if you want to try to other stack later on we can try a back-to-back test.

Just a longer damper and a couple of steel brackets.

Just want a little lathe work to take them back to the normal length, not hard, take me a week or so to sort it out though.

Well, I might do a slightly cheaper set without the remotes if you're lucky, no adjusters on 'em though as you loose one of the blowoff valves from the canister.

Hold your horses!

Step one, undo little lock screw:

Which lets you unscrew the wiper cap with a pin wrench:

Then you need to push the billet alloy main seal/shaft support down to expose the snap ring it holds against:

Prise that out with a tiny screwdriver and you can remove the shaft support and the 3 captive seals:

This is the bleed hole to purge air from the shock when rebuilding in case you were wondering.

Progressive rebound bumpstop, to prevent that horrible 'click' you often get with GAZ/Avo/Koni's at full extension:

And the main valving piston, complete with shims and high-speed circuit backstop so that you can go jumping over humpback bridges if you like.
The patina is the oil draining off in ripples, not muck Big grin

PTFE coated PEEK main piston band, stagger cut for less leakage, and main body circlip:

Main compression stack shims once the piston is taken apart:

Compression valving side of the piston:

Rebound side:

The original rebound shims stack:

My rebound stack:

Remote res. end cap - secured with a circlip the same as the main seal:

And the billet floating piston:

There a barrel adjuster and another set of valving behind that, but I was just playing with a slightly tweaked valve setup.
They're got to come apart again for a little machining, and a modified Penske piston fitting with a 2* dish on the face (Fox pistons only have 0.5*), so I might get some pictures of the barrel adjuster and the secondary base valving if I remember.

And the new pistons:

Be back on Fox pistons eventually as they're gearing up to make me some bespoke billet ally ones atm, but the first few sets will probably be coming with these alloy Penske ones.

Do you have a cutaway picture of a somewhat similar damper, so a dumb like me would understand what do those pistons do and how do they actually work?
