Hmm. It's a hard plastic one aye?

Could be something as simple as a manufacturing defect causing a stress fracture?

Not heard a bang and only noticed it when i changed the rear engine mount. Carl had the car recently to do the cambelt and im sure he would have said something if it had been like that. if i had to take a guess i would say maybe driven couple of hundred miles on it. drving it tonight after i changed it it did feel like the car was understeering but then again it was a wet road and going round a round about.

I would be suprised if it had Mark. The droplinks will flex a bit to absorb any shocks and if there is a force that the links can't cope with then they should break before anything else.

Did the new one's line up and fit alright? I.e. was the distance between the point on the damper and the end of the arb about the same on each side?

Yeah, a bit of silicon grease helps them last, as does a nice clean arb.
