I know its a one off etc, but there is only 3 colours for a rallye (imo), red, black and white. Somehow blue just does not work. I agree with welshy, indigo blue would look the tits. 10 out of 10 though Carl for bringing it up to its former glory ________________________________________ How to do a clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

Well went and got the car back from the body shop today with all the big defects in the bodywork sorted out, problem now is with all the work carried out on the exterior the interior now has got worse due to all the dust and crap getting in there .A few pictures during its work out- Here are the pictures when i went to collect it- A few back at the unit- Well once i got the car back to my own garage it was around 5pm, i thought i will give the engine bay and door shuts a quick going over and save the rest till tomorrow and finish it all off Saturday, well as it happens, i ended up giving it a real good going over with the hot pressure washer all over and machine polishing the complete car , its brought the old beauty back to life that's for sure!! After a quick wash to remove the over spray etc, (you have to admit it looks good)- Whilst i was cleaning the car i noticed that the passenger b pillar trim on the door was starting to peel and looking nasty, i do have a set of these in stock but in all honesty prefer the look without them so cracked out the hot air gun and removed them, this was the easy bit, removing the glue left afterwards was the hard and sticky bit, a bit of petrol and i won, only took 15 minutes each side Here is the before on the drivers side (this side to be fair was OK, they still look better removed though)- After a couple of minutes with the heat gun the plastic was removed but it left this glue residue behind- After some time with a petrol soaked rag it ended up looking like this and the picture below is the disgusting sticky glue (looks like bogeys when you have been around a fire breathing in all the soot) - Once the glue was removed- Once these were removed and the glue also gotten rid of it was time for me to tape up all the black trim and hit the paintwork hard with my machine polisher and the g3 cutting compound, after the whole car was passed with the g3 i then replaced the pad on the polisher and went over it all again with a machine glaze, this cuts out all the swirls and holograms in the paint when directly out in the sun, i don't have any pictures of me doing this as i can't photograph myself, once that was all done it was then autoglyms turn and waxed thoroughly, to give you this- Whilst cleaning the car there was a big disgusting sticker in the rear window, as it had been placed on top of the heated elements it had decided to come off in tiny little pieces (great), before- After a good 10 minutes, it had vanished but it stuck its heels in- After that i removed the boot carpet and gave it a soak in a tfr concentrate, left it for ten minute and vaced it, before- After, being left to dry- ________________________________________ C.G.Cars of Leicester, Peugeot/Citroen/Renault specialist Tel: 01162 624498/07799 405184 WWW.CGCARSLEICESTER.CO.UK36 narborough road south, Leicester LE3 2fn MOT station now open, tests £35 with a free retest. chrisd306 wrote: See when you do this Carl, have you ever found the paint came of or that as i want to do this to mine mate It all depends if the paint is a solid colour like red, black blue etc sometimes if it has oxidised then you can get the colour coming off as you cut into the paint, this is normally because the paint is a solid and not a base coat and laquer, its nothing to worry about just dont go to mad or you can polish through on the swage lines etc. Dont think i have had more than 100 rallyes yet mate so got a fair few to go. No its not paint stripper, petrol is pretty harmless just a bit good at disolving the glue. I was referring to machine polishing aswell. Yes still have the charged rallye, thats a long time keeper as it owes as much as my house does. Regards the paint on the doors underneath the plastic, you have to check the doors over to make sure they have had no paint, some painters mask the top and bottom up and obvoiusly when you remove the trim it will leave paint edges. I must admit, it looks a million times better. And Carl, I wish I read this before I tackled my door trims. 15 mins with petrol sounds great! Mine was in the hot sun so peeling them off was easy. It took me bloody ages using tar/bug remover to get rid of that bas**rd glue residue though ________________________________________ Racing driver, fighter pilot, astronaut, compulsive liar. |
