standard cams I'm guessing? if so you may be ok.

a decent quality MLS gasket should be just fine, i believe that's all the 405 T16 engine ran at 1.2 bar, they weren't known for gasket issues at all.

radial checking of valve clearance is a bit tricky with the valves inclined and a small cutout, usual trick is to dot punch the piston gently at tdc down the valve guide.

Yeah standard cams.

Would putting a touch of micrometer blue on the outer radius of the valve then pushing it down until it hits a piston at TDC then removing the head be another way of checking radial clearance?

Ive still got the old gasket so could mount an inlet and exhaust valve in their guides, sit the head on the old gasket and nip it down with four head bolts then wind a piston to TDC and do that check relatively quickly and easily.

Just measured exhaust valve clearance at TDC, it is 2.1mm. Is that cutting it too fine or will I get away with that?
