No, theirs is a bit of a bodge job, I'm sure it can be improved on.

The one I saw was a steel box type thing with a half baffle. Whatever it was it didn't look worth the £300odd asking price.

Ordered this bar and the tunnel box it sits on from CC this week.

Not much more welding to do on the shell after that.

I want to fit some decent jacking points that are a bit less hit and miss, and I want to fit some tubes to the dash bar to triangulate the steering column. Need to put the seat back in and buy a steering wheel and fit pedal box first though so I get it in exactly the right spot.

I'd often thought about getting jacking points done, very little extra weight but far easier and safer than bending sills or silly balancing acts.

Do mine while you're there.

not much use to Dave but we usually just jack on the sump guard, and the beam LOL

Saxo does have a 5mm box section lump bolted to the boot floor though as you can't get at the beam on that due to the fuel tank !

It's just one I service for occasionally, it's not mine, looks like a bog stock ratty saxo VTS on 1.9 205 wheels tbh LOL

170 bhp/140 lbft TU5J4, solid tappets forged rods and pistons, Piper Manifold Scorpion Saxport decat system, satchell GSXR inlet with DTA.
13 Row oil cooler.
BE4 box with 5.1 FD,
AVO 3 ways front and rear, Citroen sport torsion bars and ARB,
Wilwood 285's up front with various pads, standard rears grooved, bias valve.
Custom Cages Multipoint weld in cage (this one http://www.customcages.co.uk/Images/700/528//Assets/Products/Citroen%20Saxo/new071008citroensaxo.jpg )
Sump and tank guards.

Its all home/farmer engineered as the owner is a Civil engineer by trade.

Happens to be the same age and colour as one my brother has in a garage that we're planning a similar build with, I have a satchshift and BE4 box already, just needs Satchell engine mount kit and driveshafts, seat mounts fabricating and welding in, and the windscreen bar welding in.

Sorry for the HiJack Jim Razz

He'll be on the road before I am, he's on good money now and when summer hits I reckon he'll get motivated. It wouldn't surprise me if he's ready this year.

Bored, waiting for helicoils to arrive so I can properly bolt the inlet together (the weld on flanges are drilled out to 5mm but the bolts for the mounting the ITBs are M5, so they are too big for the bolts) but no real progress. Custom Cages lived up to expectations and sent the right tunnel brace but the gusset box is crap and needed to be done again.
Jokers.
I've got enough CDS to sort my steering column support and make some tubular engine mounts too.

Looking good Jim. Thumbs up
Couldnt you just tap the 5mm holes to M6 and drill out the other holes to 6mm? I'm assuming theres a reason you're not doing that though? Dunno

EDIT: Tubular engine mounts you say? These sound nice and light. Hmm

Yeah, I thought about that but the M5 bolt heads foul the casting of the trumpets already so the bigger heads on M6 bolts would make matters even worse. The tubular mounts shoud certainly be a bit lighter than the standard bracket.

Similar issue with the DCOE, the mani and body are drilled/tapped for M8, but the heads are a pita to get in easily.

Yeah, I had a mare getting the nuts onto the studs on my last set of bodies, not enough clearance to get a socket on them and due to the accessibility or lack of it some had to be done up about one flat at a time with a dumpy open ended spanner. I'll grind a little clearance onto these to avoid that issue this time round.
