Got back on to this again today,

Started by putting the suspension back together, using a few bits that are not meant for the 205 so i am keeping it quiet at the minute untill i know its going to work, coimplete new top mount kit and new springs putting all together with new shocks-

Was a real arse to do as they are a little special but once fitted to the car look good and seem to clear ok, looking spankly too-

Then i started to slowly put all the bits back from where they origianally came from, most of the bits removed have been powder coated so look like new, even went to the local fixing's shop and got new nuts and bolts LOL-

Come to a bit of a stand still again as i forgot to get the servo powder coated and cant do much more untill this is refitted.

Carl

Awesome build Carl.

You may want to get a different header tank cap, the spring on the 205 cap is quite weak compared to the 306 one.

Yeah I have found that to, but it is only on track that it was a problem, on the road it never pushed the water out!

I have heard that, i will use the one from the Nissens radiator as it looks just the same.

Your car still going strong? What radiator did you use just the standard 205 one?

Glad i have the 1.6 205 so i can look at it and see where bits go, was a while since i stripped it.

Thanks for the replies, just hoping when the engine goes in the exhaust will clear the bulk head, i have re angled the manifold but there seems to be a few horror stories out there regarding this.

Some people alter the lower mount, i want to avoid this if i can.

Yeah I have heard that if its angled too much it will hit the gear linkage!
I cut and re-shaped my bulkhead, but mines just a track car now so it didnt matter!

my mounts are in the standard possition, there isnt much clearance but theres enough for it not to touch with a 6 manifold

I used to run a nissens rad before the charger, the car always got hot but I have since found the headbolts were not very tight and the gasket was failing.

I use a radtec rad now to allow the boost pipes over the top. Very nice bit of kit, but quite expensive though.

As you have the engine out I would suggest you get a bronze linkage bush from Miles (same design as the 306). It fits in the 'L' shaped bracket that goes on top of the sub frame.
I used to find the securing bolt used to work loose when giving it some stick resulting in a sloppy gear change.
I don't think you will be able to get the securing bolt out with the manifold fitted due to the limited clearance.

I have a standard 205 1.9 GTi radiator on my 205 GTi6. Never really gets hot enough at all - to be honest it runs cooler than my original 1.9 engine.

Well on saturday i received the final bits i needed back from the powder coaters (it's a desease) so hopefully this will be finished pretty soon.

Had a pair of hub carriers painted black-

Fitted the wheel bearings, trying not to damage the paint-

The servo came back looking great in anthracite, much better than the rusty crap it looked like before.

Ordered the last few bits i need so i am hoping by the end of the week to have a six lump sitting in the bay looking very pretty.

I have my fingers crossed that the master cylinder will clear and that i have no issues with the exhaust manifold. Time will tell.

The calipers i have had powder coated too-

Brakes all built back up and fitted, painted the centre of the disc's, once the car has been driven it will remove the over spray and will leave a nice coated centre that wont look horrible when the metal corrodes-

This is what it is looking like now-

Carl

noticed you had fitted rubber brake lines, why? also, you'll need longer than standard ones, PM Miles for some 205-gti6 fit ones Wink

I dont quite get the point, all of them are fitted with flexi hoses?

I have fitted longer ones and they are fully fitted and are fine. What do you mean, have you any pictures?

just wondering why you are going to the effort of all this shiny stuff, then not using braided lines.

didn't know there were any suitable o.e type lines, AFAIK there aren't any of the right fitment for a 205.

Wise advice. Mine use to rattel its self loose on my old 205'6 and 205 S16.

Looking good though Smile
