Wave

still got my 205, with gti6 engine in

always looking for anther 306, think it's one of those things you can just never leave behind fully Doh

got a BMW X3 M40i for tip runs and baby duties, and a BMW M140i Shadow Edition for "fun" but i've only done 1k miles in 6 months in it, don't think i'd cope well buying a manual car again as i just don't enjoy them anymore, obviously got old Sad

Daily is a v70 d5 sport estate. Ticks all boxes for hauling stuff, goes well being 2.4 and reasonable mpg.

Toy 1. Minter of 306 rallye in white
Toy 2 . Minter of a civic fk2 running 420bhp, with sensible yet subtle mods

B8 RS4 for fun family duties
1.5D Clio for the daily commute

Still have the 306 shell in the garage where it’s been sat since I moved into this house 14 years ago.
Waiting for sale of house to go through now so really need a plan for what to do with it

I got my XSI thats been sat for 7 years back on the road for commuting to a new job at the start of this year, its so rusty and every bush was/is shot. ive fixed enough bits so its close to bearable now.
I did the gearbox mount today and it transformed its drivablility, no judders when pulling off. Just the ARB drop links and the top mounts + bearings to go.

recently, i thought id be a mental and bought the cheapest gti6 i could find thats been sat for 10 years now. i might sound mad but the XSI just isnt a GTI6 Razz
its slowly getting there also. just needs the exuahst swapping/fitting and chasing a few electrical gremlins before i try and MOT it.

its mad to see these cars become "classics" now and rasie up in price. i wish id takken better case of my previous two gti6's Sad id be quids in by now Big grin

I've still got my 306 and my 205.

The 205 is undergoing restoration as there wasn't much left that wasn't rusty and falling to pieces. I'm hoping to have it back this year by spring, although restoration I believe is in its 5th year.....

The 306 is still in the exact same condition as all those years ago as far as I can see. Might go back on the road this year if I get round to it. I hope there are no surprises and the sills are all intact.

Still swearing at the 406 Coupe. Enjoying the ponies but f**k me it's had more bits fail than the 306 ever did.

Yep. It's been on fire, the paints fallen off it, it blew it's rear amp up twice, the remote locking just gave up for no apparent reason, it blew up the degassing tank and p**sed all the coolant out in the middle of a race weekend and I had to weld both the sills up where someone had damaged 'em with a lift and rust came through.
Oh and the back window just randomly smashed itself into a billion cracks just before xmas.

On the other hand it's got a nice full stainless exhaust now, complete suspension refresh + powder coated parts underneath, custom engine and wishbone bushes and load of other bits and it's up about 30-40 horsepower.

LOL yeah none of that was related to my work. only thing that ever happened to me was the PAS hose blew up on full lock outside my house. 10 years later i can still see the messy curve in the road from the fluid that stained the ground Doh why was it on fire?

LOL was heavy on fuel that thing, was amazing condition when i had it, never ever let me down except we steam cleaned the engine and it then wouldn't start so left it overnight and then it worked again flawlessly. i don't even remember selling it actually and normally i recall who bought my cars Dunno

    Pete on the 306OC.

It's not as bad on fuel now, it was when I got it, but it'd got a rear coil kept misfiring slightly under part throttle just randomly, barely enough to feel it just felt like you'd got the tyres down a bit then it'd suddenly clear up at 3k and go -the breather pipes had a split under the covers too, and the idle valve was stuck (t's got a Ferrari 306 ICV on it now instead), plus I went through and swapped out all the sensors. Been a lot better on fuel since. Even the exhaust helped a bit, strangely.

It'll touch 40mpg on a run now, still only does about 25 around town when it's cold.
