Hi all, iv currently got gaz gold coilovers on the front with 9" 250 lbs/in springs fitted from the factory.

My problem is now that I'm running negative camber hubs the tyre hits the spring and I can't afford to space the wheels out anymore so I need to get shorter springs

Iv got 22.5mm torsion bars on the rear and after researching it looks like 225 lbs/in springs are the best match, as I'm thinking about going to a 6" spring and can't use helper or tender springs is it a good idea to get stiffer springs?

Don't run it so low Thumbs up

You'll need a much higher rate if you go for a 6" spring, and then you risk going coilbound.

225 lb will be pretty soft, you need something like 285 lb 8" springs or higher, 205 ran 225lb 9" with a 21mm bar on tarmac spec cars.

I have a similar problem on mine, I can't run larger than a 16" wheel (Not that I wanted to) but also restricted to a 195 tyre so it doesn't hit the shock. I asked something along these lines before but never had a reply

It's a dimma it has to be low plus the wheels are 18".....

What would you suggest?

no, a dimma is a rally rep, therefore NOT low.

Gaz golds are a pain in the arse. As welshpug says if you go to a 6" spring you'll need to up the spring rate or they'll go coil bound far to easily. The spring platforms can also be turned down a bit from memory to give a bit more clearance.
You're up against it with your wheel size and the big bodied dampers I'm afraid Ollie.

surely a spacer is cheaper than new springs?

I didn't mean I can't afford to buy a spacer I meant if I spaced the wheels out anymore the wheels would be sticking out the arch!

The new wheels turn up Friday so I guess I need to wait and see how much clearance I need but I think I might be able to have 7" springs and maybe 350 lbs/ft to stop it from going coil bound

I'd go for something close to 300lb springs and length not less than 8" (with 8" spring you have ~5" out of which ~2.5" taken up by the weight of the car).

If you are going for 6" springs you'd need to go for about 500lb.

I used negative camber hubs on my car only with standard struts. Once I switched to coilovers it was possible to get adjustable cambers via top mounts, so there was no need for them.

Just trial fitted the old negative camber hub to see what clearance I will have.

The wheels are et20, I'm using a 20mm bolt on spacer and then added a 6mm spacer and this is the clearance I have

The lowest offset they make these wheels is et13 so hopefully if I get the next set made with et13, use the 20mm spacer and use 8" springs hopefully the wheel and tyre will clear the strut (fingers crossed)

It's a bit hard to tell but it appears that the wheel is still inside the arch so if it doesn't clear with the above solution I can always get some 23-25mm spacers made
