Well,

That didn't last long. These cars are £&&£?!g horrible with no PAS.

Has anyone got a full PAS relocation kit, or electric power steering setup available? This is a feature I really need to re-instate...

Yeah i drove mine less than a mile yesterday before deciding todays job would be to fit my EPAS.
I picked up my pump from the local breakers for £20. Will need to extend the low pressure hose (although this is very cheap) and may have to have the high pressure hose modified depending on where your fitting it. Mine is going down roughly where the air con compressor was and Pirtek have quoted me £5 to cut the original metal pipe from the high pressure hose and crimp on the one that i got with the pump.

Its a better feel when driving with no PAS, people want the feel of a 205 from the steering then realise they are too much of a pussy Smile

Much better, but it is SO heavy.. Heavier than any 205 I've ever driven.

Did you change the top mounts as well as remove the p/ s??
the top mounts are different on none p/s ones, makes then run different caster, with the p/s top mounts it will be stiff as f**k.

No, I didn't... just left everything the same and ripped the PAS off so I could get an air box on the throttle bodies.

How much difference does it actually make though? As it stands at the moment, it's so heavy I'm not sure I could catch a slide if it went...

Non pas top mounts have less caster so FFS don't change them!

Wouldn't that make it lighter though? As I see it, the stock PAS top mounts have 3.5* positive caster, and the non-PAS ones have 2*. Less jacking effort surely will make it lighter?

Or AllanAllen, are you saying it will drive s**t?

The way I see it more caster will make it more difficult to turn, at shallow angles like the 306 runs the difference may well be fairly negligible. I've never driven a non pas equipped 306 but I'm guessing they also had slower racks fitted?

Re-fit the pas Razz

This isn't having a go at you for taking it off, but I never understand why people can't fit an air box with the steering pump there? I fitted a maxi type air box with the standard pump in place...? Or were you using a dome filter type job?

You can always check ebay for the 106 pas pump. Usually plenty of them on there from breakers.

Have you double checked the top mount bearings are still fine too?

If the grease goes dry in them you need to be Popeye with no-PAS, you don't even notice with it as the shuttle valve compensates.

It makes a bit of difference, the non-PAS models had a 3.9 turn rack, which is nice an light so long as you don't mind the feeling of driving a container ship.
