Hello all, so over the past year my heater blower has had a mind of its own. Intermittently stopping from time to time sometimes for a few minute's then coming back on again without warning.

Tonight its finally stopped for good I think. Its showing no signs of life.

I dont think its the fan itself as this was replaced in early November for a brand new oe unit and the fuse is ok so it must be the green relay. Now I didnt know what one it is so I took them all out 1 by 1 to see if I could see any burning but everything looks ok?

Is it possible the relay has failed internally without anything noticeable on the outside of the unit? Also what is the location of the relay in question? Mine is a phase 2.5.

Kick f**k into the underside of the blower motor itself before pricking around with relays especially if you pull the green relays out and they haven't melted...

Its a brand new oe heater motor. Just went out and plugged the old one in and thats not doing anything either. Also swapped all the green relays around and thats not done anything either.

Wtf is wrong with it?

When mine had the symptoms it was the green relay. Check posts started by me. I changed the motor, control console then relay. This stopped it though.

Ive swapped all the green relays around as said in post number 8. Everything else still works / illuminates. No duff fuses that i can find. Just no fan. This wasnt even funny this morning.

Ive checked to see if ive got voltage at the connector to the fan unit itself and im getting 12v between red and black and something like 7 volts on the third blue lead.

Ok been out with the beefy work mega meter. Red and black is saying exactly 12 volts. Red to the centre blue wire is 12 volts with fan on zero position the drops bit by bit with each turn/click of the fan control until its on maximum and registers as 7.5 / 8 volts.

This doesn't make any sense. I have voltage all over the connector and the fan isnt moving.

The only thing I can come up with is the connector itself isnt making adequate contact. All the connections look black and manky. I did give it a wiggle but I still didnt get any movement.

tried kicking the base of the fan? that sorted my HDI one when i first got it, although i've had relay problems in the past but you'll have no lights whatsoever on the fascia (aircon, recirc.)

Listen mate I am not booting the bottom of a brand new genuine fan unit. Im gonna try cleaning up the connection.

Its not the motor terminals but the connector. The metal contacts look disgraceful. Providing there is no current when the ignition is off im gonna soak the whole connector on coca cola to clean them up. I think my problem lies here.

Kicking it sorts them 99% of the time - barefoot obviously.

Don't do what I did and pierce the bas**rd with a winkle picker.

    my heater didn't work after a boot but when my mate kicked it it worked fine. must be the size of the shoe. i'm only a size 4 so presume there wasn't enough weight
