30 min quali and 40 min race with mandatory pitstop. I'm sharing the driving with my Dad so this works well. The 2 races of French Trophy would be ideal but only 1x 15 min quali (I think?) means only 1 of us would have time to qualify.

Yea, we could work it out if needed but TDT just solves that problem. French Trophy does sound fun, especially if there are more guys in here racing.

Haha, I'm not made of money! Razz Building the car has taken pretty much all my cash so trying not to stretch too far this year.

TDT are supporting British GT at Oulton though Wink

They often come up for sale second hand...

Still not cheap, but quickly pays for itself with hire charges...

I think hire charges start around 60-70 for a year and decrease depending on the amount of years you sign up for. Can't for the life of me find the link though!

They hold their money so you may as well just buy one I rekon

I don't think its mandatory so you can use what you want, but FIA stuff is recommended. The softer pipe insulation stuff will be no use if you head butt the roll bar in a crash!

The Bluebook seems to indicate you should have some within reach of the driver's helmet but that it only needs to be FIA spec for international events.

Here's one for you.... I keep glancing through eBay to pick up some second hand safety gear now what's the sketch with race boots for msa events? Am I right in thinking you can wear anything? Kart boots always seem way cheaper?

Even if its not in the regs I would still get the FIA fireproof stuff. Would rather shell out a few extra quid just in case.

This place does good stuff at decent prices: Plays-Kool Motorsport

I would get proper stuff with FIA approval. I'm not sure about boots but with race suits never go out of date if you're doing MSA events.

Boots can be had for £100 so no problem!

You've got to have the proper approved overalls etc. it's just the boots are a bit of a grey area, fireproof boots are fireproof boots regardless of the FIA added tax! I'm reluctant to spend £100+ on a pair when I can use a £40 non FIA pair that will offer the same protection.

i have seen plenty of rally drivers in trainers so there is nothing stopping you were what you want as far as i know. my personal choice for safety would be to wear FIA approved boots (nomex), likewise with gloves. I wear four layers of nomex over my body so it would be stupid not to cover my hands and feet!

don't karting boots normally state that they are not flame retardant?

you can get FIA approved boots for £50, wouldn't be paying £100 for them.
