Definitely a more modern car but the looks are not quite as lovable as a 306, for me anyway.

I agree, the 306 looks a better car despite its age. I too was looking at the possibility of getting one of these recently.

The panel thickness is similar to that of a washing machine.

Buy a 182 and use the change for suspension.

just going on what the guy on the evo mag review said is that the wheels are 1.3kg lighter per corner. perhaps not then.
think I shall keep an out for one not too far away and take for a spin, see if I love it like I do the rallye

i looked at some on ebay today, i think they look alright [all of them tbh, 172/182/trophy etc], even the new ones you can get for peanuts. i remember my mate buying a brand new one a few yrs back and i'm sure it cost him £22k in the end Unsure

Personally I wouldn't say better, certainly different, and quite accomplished in some areas, but its a smaller car, more akin to a 206 than a 306.

I doubt I could get my bike in a clio easily, whereas it'll go in the boot of the ZX easily.

I bloody hate working on Renaults, everything seems so awkward and stupidly designed, and very flimsy!

There seems alot of ex 6 owners over on clio sport, seems a logical step as they are similar cars, newer etc, its just a shame you dont get the room with a clio, miss that 306 boot.

As welshpug said they are a lot smaller - and they feel it inside. Driving style is similar to a 6/Rallye, but you can feel the difference in size, they are very chuckable. Certainly closer in style than the R26 Megane is which I have noticed a few other 306 owners moving on to.

They are newer, and have a few more bits of technology in, and are slightly less rattle.

If you had a well kept standard example of both the Clio will out perform a 6/Rallye.

The engines are more lively than a 6 engine IMO they seem a bit more revvy when above 5k then again that might just be because you get a lovely kick from the VVT. I like them but they're too small for me.

    Pretty much this.

They are a fair bit smaller, my housemate last year had one. His was about 3.5k, but was in nice condition and came with some nice modern toys (Xenons, Cruise Control, Climate Control etc.).

It's a capable, compact, chuckable more modern hot hatch. Quite nice, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the looks.

all the ones i've seen have the normal halogen lights, is it just some of the 172's that got the xenons?

Phase 2 172's will have xenons rikky,so should most 182's bar the 182 cups that don't

After owning over 20+ 306's and then owning a 172 I would choose the Clio over the 6 any day

Plus they have a better forum Wink

Depends on what you think constitutes a better car really?
Smaller (Not a positive, I've done the shoe box car thing already when I was 17)
    Gash looking interior
    Looks like a girls car
Performance wise the difference is minute
When I change car I want something slightly different and appreciably better than the car before it
    Gearbox

Cars I think that are worth having after a good 90's hatch:
A very modern "proper" hot hatch like a Megane 265
    An E46 M3
    Something that isn't f**king tiny

Why do you want to have something so similar to what ever you have had before with basically identical performance.

Basically, That why I don't get why you would get one after a six

    f**k I wouldn't get one after a 106 Gti.
