Combe Saloons would be a struggle on a budget. Alan Dixon entered a well prepped 306 for the under 1800 class, finding that it was very difficult to be competitve with 106's etc. Unless it was wet!

I guess it depends how long it would take to get bored of not being competitive, bearing in mind that a number of the under 1400cc are lapping in the early 1.20's, and with a 2.0 many of the other cars will be lapping between 1.15-1.19.

no reason at all as long as the car meets the regs I would imagine.

All the combe saloons run list 1A tyres (i.e road tyres) no R888's there as they're 1B, though the AD08 is very commonly used, as that is 1A

I'm still stuck on what tires to get, and here's the best bit, ill be running cyclones Big grin

Retro pug, I'm not sure if there was a 350z but it woukdnt surprise me if it wasn't the fastest. Some crazy cars in that series.

I'd suggest running TYRES, you're not a yank are you? Razz

get something lighter and wider than a cyclone, for handling and brake cooling.

I didn't realise that they had chanced the Combe saloons capacities classes to 1800-2500 Doh

Looking at the regs there is no unmodified engine class now, class d being up to 1500cc? 2000cc putting you in class b.

I looked on the CSCC website and couldn't find much in the way of rules and regs, the DMN site on the other hand is very comprehensive, it listed chassis mods allowable, engine restrictions, drivetrains allowable etc. Anybody got a link to CSCC tin top rules.

The rules are as stated for saloons in the MSA blue book, only differences being those listed on the CSCC website.

Lol TYRES, it would appear my phone might be American. LOL

Ill have to really push the boat out if I'm to afford new wheels.

Oh s**t, I didn't budget for wheels Doh

It's a big meaty 5 spoke, looks like a rally wheel.

Do they often go second hand?

Although not ideal, is there any reason I DEFINITELY shouldn't use cyclones?

It was only for one race last year. We were there for British GT with a GTR and not the saloon car championship. A high-up nismo executive felt like having a go in it though so we brought the 350z along for him to do so. There was an evo with a lot of CF body panels that spitted flames on every gear change that was EXTREMELY quick.

Special GT perhaps? Dont think they race them at combe anymore.

Anyway, Business.

Here is the car as it stands now...

Yes, messy and full of plastic, metal, crap and god knows what. Ive got a long way to go.

As for the chassis leg, Am i right in assuming i need to put pressure on point A ie: digger pressing down, heavy ratchet strap to the floor etc. And they apply upwards force to point B, ie: Bottle jack.??

Please excuse the poor god awful diagram picture.

Hopefully ill crack on with this tomorrow.

Then it will be time to fit these, Definitely not looking foward to the time thats gonna take!

Any advice appreciated Thumbs up

Your diagram is about right, you may need to spread the pressure on point A though to avoid making another dent.

was going to use an 18" digger bucket spread across point A, and a Wood block on a bottle jack for point B. Should do the trick right?

Your direction of force is wrong for point B though, it needs to really be pulled out as well as up, sort of point your arrow up and to the left by 45 degrees and you'll be heading in the right direction.

Oh i forgot to mention that bit, my plan was to attach a ratchet strap and pull it out with the 3.5 tonne isuzu Smile

I then just line it up to the wing, bonnet and slam panel presumably.
