Yh I use winders the flat carbon door cards, just need to make holes for the door handle and winder handle.

Seems like every thread i go to there is some mention of me!

I weighed up winders, seems they are not massively lighter than motors? Seemed like too much of a ball ache to change them to save a few grams.

It's not just the weight though, there's also all the wiring that can go and as I mentioned, you can't keep them and remove the door cards as you have nowhere for the buttons.

Plus tbh if I was on track I'd rather have manual ones, easier to open if you rolled and couldn't open the door. Lexan ones could probably be kicked out, manual ones could be wound down, electric ones are stuck.

Plus the door looms commonly go on these cars, the fewer wires in it the better.

Well I'm going to stick with the electric ones till I go for the cage and then see what's what. I'm going for windy ones and then some nice carbon fibre door cards. Maybe

I'm getting a custom one. Spoke to PhillipM about getting one made with him, was exactly what I wanted just he is in Rotherham and it's heck of a trek for me to drop it off and then back up to pick up. Spoke to SimonJames who lives near me and there is a specialist near us that did his cage, looks the nuts and exactly what I'm after. Few pics of it

I don't want a bolt in due to the fact that it protrudes into the door opening so just looks s**t, I want the bar bent all the way in following the A pillar into the dash, plus think I'll go for the one door bar. The thing is for a full bolt in cage costs around the same as getting one made and fitted

hmm.. I was under the impression it would be more. This does look ace. Is there a downside to buying a bolt in off of somewhere like demon tweeks?

Well a bolt in still needs plates welded in for the bolt it to sit to. I've also heard that people have issues fitting them due, needs packing ect at certain points. A custom made one works out around the same price really, been quoted around 1k for it fully fitted, whereas the bolt in ones were 6-700 and still need work to get them in. For the quality of the finish I would go for the custom every time

Quite. Essentially a bolt-in is not as easy as it sounds, and can still require a fair amount of bending and adjustment to get it to fit; if you go for a custom weld-in, all the time is spent getting you a safe, strong cage rather than fettling bits here and there until they fit.

If it's fitted to a shell already then your all good, but I would rather have the comfort of knowing that it is fitted fully since some of the cages I've seen fitted are packed out with washers. Not ideal when your putting the car on it's roof. I want solid metal touching solid metal (My Peugeot may not be solid)

Are you just using you 6 as a track car mainly then?

I mean it was fitted to another, but is coming out and going into mine.

Yeah I will be using it as a track/hill climb car. Gradually going to add to it over the next few months.

The only time I ever HAVE to drive it is to drop my daughter at her mums and pick her up. 1.5 miles away.

For everything else I just use my bike.

If your getting a second hand cage then it is a lot cheaper than custom, so can't really argue with that can you. I'm not using my car for much on the road as I use my van/doing my bike test soon and after my mate called around with his Raptor earlier, I'll probably buy a quad LOL so a cage won't really be an issue, getting in and out ect

When I was younger I was a little terror, used to ride my motocross bike everywhere. I live about 3 miles from a country park so once you were in there you were fine, but we would ride them through the streets, like hoodlums. I can't believe the idiot I was. Now I realise what my license is worth (my joCool I try to do things by the book. By which I mean don't drive over 100mph, or something that isn't insured in someones name, it doesn't have to be mine, aslong as the ANPR covers it I'm OK.

I remember reading one of your threads, and finding it hilarious that you could be that big and still have a 6. How the hell do you fit in it with a helmet on!?

Come to think of it, I imagined you as spongebob then too, which made it even funnier.

Until i acually meet you, ill always assume you look like spongebob. Which means it will be hard to read your posts without laughter! LOL
