Those sorts of wheels are no good for serious track work as they don't provide enough brake cooling. They're also narrower than you'd ideally want a track wheel to be.

If your moving up to slicks then get some wider wheels with a more open face at the same time.

Yes slicks have like a hole in the running surface which obviously whe it disappears means the tyre is past it's use full limit I believe. And i really wouldn't bother with c5 steelies for on track you'll just completely overheat ur brakes due to lack of cooling as said above! Thumbs up

Pro race 1.2s for track work, as has already been said ad nauseum elsewhere. Tyre hardness is also something to consider as well as how much rubber is left on them. Old slicks can get pretty rock hard with age and can be a b**ch to get up to temperature front and rear if your geometry isn't optimised for that kind of tyre.
