for those of you who didnt watch the whole thing watch the incar footage towards the end of the clip... spectacular isnt the word imo.

have to agree with all about nascar, but actually go to one with the noise the smell and all the hype its brilliant. Its a must for any petrol head imo..... hang off the fence and hear them whip by is incredible though watching on tv makes me go to sleep too.... as does F1.

Just hope redbull can resurrect the world rally championship without turning the sport into something ken block can win!!!

Watched it live, such a shame about the ending as it was a good race up until that point. Seeing images of Larson's engine in the grandstand was pretty incredible.

Roll on the 500 tomorrow!

30 people in the crowd killed when that engine entered the crowd area, heard it on the news earlier! Shock Sad

Nobody was killed mate, it happened just along from where I was sitting, that was only the nationwide race, the big 500 is today.

It's a pretty impressive spectacle, they bump draft and push each other along at over 190mph, there is plenty of overtaking and at some points they were 4 wide.

This video shows how bad it was, wheels in the crowd and the front of the car and engine on the path in front of the fans

Hmm

That's odd then, I heard it on national news this morning at 9am, the actual quote said "At least 30 people have been killed and many more injured after a huge Nascar crash at Daytona yesterday"

Will look into where they got their info from then. Yes

Ok, just looked it up.

Seems the info is *actually* a crowd of 30 were hit, 2 killed and 7 severely injured...

Where have you got that from Stan? I didn't think there had been any official confirmation of fatalities?

Ah ok. Appears to be a huge list of re-syndications of one article, which was edited to remove reference to fatalities and Google hasn't caught up yet. It looks like all those reports are down to one news agency getting their facts wrong in their first report and loads of others just copied it.

As far as I am aware no fatalities have been confirmed.

Rich,

I think you're spot on. Yes

I have spent some further time looking into it, and it appears that no-one has actually been confirmed killed.
Excellent result and very lucky. Smile

Looks at this one "Eighty-three spectators and driver Pierre Levegh were killed, and 120 fans were injured". I mean that's a big leap up from 2 killed and 7 injured.
