i always just used 10-40 on my standard engine, an 15-50 on charged engine________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

you'll only find a 10W40 in semi synth flavour I believe, not that it matters greatly, any decent branded oil of the right grade will work fine.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

unsure as it was just GM oil that we buy in bulk at the garage, i thought it was fully syn tho.I dont think it matters that much as engine will be old and worn anyway, diffrent if it was a brand new engine or car, but every owner will of probaly used diffrent oils over the years and diffrent garages will of used diffrent oils ________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

thought my screen was broken there  swear you didnt have 5w30 fully last time. Opinions on oil are like @r$eholes - everyone's got one. Mine is that these engines are getting up in the miles now, so going for the slightly thicker oil is best. However, it is dependent on how you use your car. Year round commuting, summer-only use, track use etc. I use fully synthetic as I am pedantic and like to use top-quality stuff. I used the standard Pug synthetic Total Quartz 5w30 initially, but I'm definitely going to go thicker when I change the oil. Opie Oils recommends 10w40 semi-synth or 5w40 fully synth for the 306 GTI-6. There are 10w40 fully synth oils on the site though. I think a good rule of thumb is that if it is a car you care about then anything of decent quality (i.e. not budget) that is not too thin (I'd say 5w is verging on too thin for a 100K mile engine) is fine. I'd go fully synth personally, but semi synth is more than adequate. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

I always used 5w40 fully synth in mine and shes been sweet for 54K in a year and half I was always under the impression that 5w40 was better at lower temperatures, so better in winter etc... ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Agreed it flows better on winter start-ups, although I don't use my Rallye in winter. Spent too much time laboriously scraping rust off and repainting the underside. It has got 5w30 in it at present and it hasn't blown up yet, though it is going thicker when I change. Each to their own.________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

Put Millers 5w50 fully synth in mine before FCS Seems to be quieter in general,and took a good thrashing round Donnington with oil temp not going over 140  ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

All changed for top quality 5w30 fully synth like last time and ngk irridians. Runs quieter and will be better than 10w for track.
