I have fancied making one for some time, but as I mentioned, DMN doesn't allow underfloor aero apart from a front splitter, and even that is strictly goverened as to how far the tray of the diffuser can extend back under the front of the car.

can you fit the oem undertray? Wink

Not quite as much as you'd expect, the airflow stalls under there and forms an air dam anyway.

Thats what I thought was said last time this was discussed. Air will occupy the void under the car (where spare wheel used to be) so other air will pass by it as the space is already occupied with air Dunno

Obviously a diffuser would make it better, but pointing out the "parachute" effect may not be as bad as people imagine.

Only one way to test the theory, when's the next rolling road day?
is anyone up for doing a run with the rear bumper removed?

would be worthwhile for a sprint or hillclimb car I'd imagine, given they go from a standing start.

a lot of people are saying this is all pretty useless. I removed that offending section of the rear bumper in my 1.4 and noticed a lot of a difference past 50mph. Manly it pulled better upto top speed of 112mph and my fuel consumption dropped on long motorway journeys. As i will reitterate i just cut a section away no diffuser etc. my argument is if you took the section i cut out my bumper and stuck it on another 306 i reacon you would notice the extra drag/fuel consumption.

I'm surprised, I'd think it'd make it worse as then you're forcing airflow around the exhaust and beam area where it's currently pretty stagnant.

You're latter argument is pretty invalid, aerodynamics is not just a section of standalone parts, it's a system.

LOL

I can't believe this discussion is still going on, however if someone did come up with something that worked it would be cool. Cool

Can't say i did tbh, but usually i do a load of work to the car in one go so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly made the changes i experience.

Yeah it's roofing sheet, tried and tested to 135mph on the autobahn and it survived. Laugh
It keeps the battery that lives above it nice and clean too which is an added bonus. Cool

I like the idea of it keeping things clean and dry(ish) under the car Yes If you spend a lot of time/money cleaning the underside up then it's nice to keep it clean Smile

I quite like that!
What is it mounted to? I can obviously see one end is on the bottom of the bumper, but the other? Looks like you've got a smaller bit further back?

Got a nice big sheet of thin metal lying down at Jim' and a spare rear bumper off the black 6 I broke and loads of spare exhaust so think were going to have a mess around at the weekend and knock something up to see what it looks like. Side exit exhaust rear diffuser and flat floor the exhaust tunnel.
exhaust is just rested under the car here. I have a spare set of black skirts I will whop to make room for the exhaust too.

you'll need a small alloy tank to make that work safely...
