I might be wrong but I think a few people on 306oc have done various combinations of changing manifolds, injectors, throttle bodies to a RS one and no one has had much success (or non backed up by RR results anyway).

Right, just been outside and disabled my daily driver...again!
The XU7 inlet has no plenum as such and no velocity stacks; just all four runners crammed side by side sat right next to the throttle body. It has quite a large resonator built in to the back of it also.

The RS manifold seems to be fouling on the power steering hard pipes attached to the pump. It looks like the same pump as the 6 though.

http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=64213&page=1 As here mate, pipes need some "persuasion" . I was lucky with mine as it was non AC so the PAS pump was on the sump. Looking sweet anyway Smile

I bought some xsi badges as I prefer the red over the chrome. I cut the 'i' off to make an xs badge with the slanted font.

I have fitted a Gti6 inlet manifold using the xu7 injectors and throttle body. An adapter plate had to be made to make the the throttle body fit. I used some aluminium plate as it's easy to cut/file.

I'm not happy with it.
I took it for a test drive and a couple of times it coughed at about 4500rpm, almost like a carb spits back. It has scared the s**t out of me as I thought it was something catastrophic.

There is also a hesitance at 5500rpm which was always there even before the mani change. I'm not sure what this problem may be; coil pack breaking down? It does it almost every time I try to take it to the red line but on occasion it will go to 6000rpm no problem and feels strong/smooth.

I think I will put it back to standard as I feel it is much safer for the engine.

Christ! That certainly looks better! I drove past yours yesterday as I was looking at a 206 for sale at the bottom of your road. Seemed cheap so was hoping to make a quick buck but turns out it was cheap for a reason......

I've polished the manifold to a point at where I'm happy with it. It's not perfect but I think it will look good when fitted.

Sore isn't the word Matt. Lol

I got the manifold in the engine bay last night. I took the subframe/steering rack off to get it in there. There may be a few scratches on it now though.

The car is back on its wheels again now but the there are a few teething issues with the water hose that goes from the back of the water pump to the metal tube that runs behind the block. There is a rubber hose that joins the two which loops out and is in the way of the manifold. I have a Gti6 water outlet and metal tube so I think I'll see if that fits, On servicebox it says they both use a 42mm 'O' ring and are held on with two bolts.

The manifold is hanging off a couple of head studs at the moment whilst I come up with a solution.

err, why bother upgrading the inlet if you stick the teeny XU7 throttle body on there?! LOL

I thought it might get me half way there until I can get some different management on the case to cope with the Gti6 TB. It made enough of a difference to make it run like a bag of sh*t though LOL

Well, the gti6 manifold and exhaust improves things! it feels more free revving at high rpm. It sounds amazing too. It sings through the stainless mani which you can here through the bulkhead.

It's the best mod I've done other than the yellow fogs.

I've just finished stripping and rebuilding my RS cylinder head in my garage ready for bolting on top of the xu7 Smile

Which head gasket should be used 83mm or 86mm?

Thats exactly what im planning on doing. Was going to with my old 1.8 but now ive got the 6, can buy a second engine and spend a bit of time building it.

Should make a big difference. The 1.8 head is incredibly restricted. i ported mine and it made a big big difference but ended up scrapping the car. Mate has got the engine now but dont know what his plans are. good luck! You will get a few haters on here telling you its pointless but only one way to find out!

you wouldn't happen to know which head bolts to use would you? Servicebox says 0204 80 for xu7 and 0204 ao for xu10.

theoretically it will work really well and i know the 205 boys do similar with great results. will be keeping an eye on this. As i said, basically what im planning on doing (except mine will have a turbo on the side of it!) but yours will probably be done well before me!

Does anyone know which headbolts to use or whether I can re-use the originals?

XU7j4rs FTW.

It is very peaky. It slams into the rev limiter now. It has less low down grunt than before until 3k then it just takes off! I was experiencing a fair bit of torque steer top of 2nd and 3rd; there's not a lot of weight holding the nose down.

sounds like tracking is out or some wear somewhere, or changing road surfaces as I don't get any in a lighter more powerful 205.
