wow, Wimps! I rode my R6 all year round for 5 years. I was blasting the moors in the snow, that's how cool I am!

The real story is that I'd been out up to Hartside (very fun road), good road conditions, ice and snow are the sides but the roads were totally fine.

On the return, and it's ALWAYS the return trip that causes problems, I tipped into a corner only to see that the road had large patches of snow/ice mid-corner!

One motorcycle sat up quickly, arsehole flapping and some wise braking and I was through!

I love bikes, had I not have been knocked off my Mr "I didn't see you", I'd probably be trading my R6 for a 2004/5 R1 about now Sad

f*cking pussies, I did over 100 miles last weekend in my summer gear, it was 1*c.

Yes I was cold, but it doesn't stop me going out on it! My dad even gave me an old set of heated grips when I got to his place LOL

I don't like the idea of getting salt all over my bike though, thats why I keep it tucked away until Spring. Smile

I have a £1300 thundercat, I'll ride it until it rots away. I've only washed it once in 6 months LOL

Fair enough Jim...I wouldn't mind having a second bike to ride all year and keep the Gixxer locked away, but I don't think the Missus would appreciate me having a GTi-6, a Gixxer and another bike all at the same time. LOL

Funny how they don't understand the way these things work, isn't it?

"I need a second car/bike/boat/tank because...." doesn't seem to register!

Despite the Pug having 450bhp odd, the bike makes it feel like a Mini Metro mate....LOL

It will do 100mph in first gear if you can hang on...

Well, a quick update to this, I've decided to do my direct access in the late summer. However in the meantime my dad has bought himself another toy for me to get to grips with

It's a 1988 Honda TLR200 trials bike, fully original bar tank. He used to compete on one back in the day and reckons it will be good for me to learn the basics of bike on. His plans are to fully restore it, after I inevitably drop it!

Talking of this subject, I have just booked my advanced course the Enhanced Rider Scheme or ERS they call it. It's an addition you can do once you obtain a full bike licence, bit like a Pass Plus for a car...Yes

Thought I might as well do it, passed my test nearly a year ago.

Some factory exhaust cans are hilarious. LOL

It's obviously possible to keep bikes quiet enough with sensibly sized cans yet some bikes still leave the factory with these enormous lumps. A nice aftermarket can makes a massive improvement.

First treat to myself when I finish uni and have a real job is to get a full license and a Buell XB12Scg. I rode crossers a fair bit as a kid and can jump onto a bike and ride it no problem, and those Buell's look the mutts!

They've certainly got character but they're fairly crude machines really. I've seen them at bike meets before and, when running, they look like they're going to rock themselves off their side stands due to the vibration. LOL

I know. To me that just makes them look even better. Like a psychopathic cage fighter who's had a few too many Red Bulls, twitching to go nuts. They just scream "Hooligan" to me. Big grin I'm not one for fancy tech and a million different ECU/damper/rev counter/climate control/seating positions. My 22 year old car with no airbags has had the PAS and A/C removed and a louder engine put in instead. I like the same in bikes.

There is something quite refreshing about a simple, functional bike without too much emphasis on performance. I'm not sure whether I should like them but I have a thing for the reborn Norton Commando 961. Cool

On the other hand, I was in a local bike shop the other day waiting for an MOT to be done surrounded by KTM RC8s and MV F4s. The MV, in particular, is gorgeous machine.
