K6 2008?

The number after K indicates the year, so for example I have a K5 it's a 2005 etc.

It's a late registered k6, my last one was a k3 on a 2007.

thread bumpage. after doing the direct access scheme does anyone have any recommendations for a first bike? not to keen on starting little and getting bored quickly. a few at work have recommended a cbr600 as a bike that i could start with (i am quite levelheaded, esp after recently becoming a dad) and wouldn't get bored of it as i could open it up more and more as i become more experienced.

other than the the scheme i.would have had no other on the road experience of bikes

thanks all

Ill be in the same position. I quite fancy a supermoto- nice and light, wide bars for balance, and pretty nippy, I was thinking a ktm 450 or something like that. I dont want anything too grown up or commuter-ish!

mcfc1987 - I would recommend something like a GSXR600 for your first bike. They are nice looking and great to ride. They have enough power that you won't get bored to quick and yet they don't have stupid amounts which is a nice balance. Plus they really do handle well. Yes

Really depends shat posturd you want on a bike.

A sports bike can be a little tough on the wrists to start with.

I started with a sv650. Cheap to insure, and only kept it for a year to get my NCB

A SV650s will be cheap to insure and is a pretty good starter bike but you will get bored of it; I started on a GSXR600 SRAD back in 2004 and it was pretty good as a beginner.

Might be worth looking at the Triumph Daytona 600; I got one after my GSXR and I though it was a cracking bike.

Yes, as a first timer I would stay away from large CC single cylinder 4-strokes as the torque will throw you off the back if you're
not careful...

Stick with a nice 4 cylinder 600, that will see you well. Smile

after a few days of research i will probably go for one of these as post 2008 they have the 3 maps. can restrict the bike to either 60% or 80% power which is perfect

supermoto is a great way to get into bikes sit up and beg is far easier to get away with mistakes on than a sports bike
i started on ktm 640 supermoto. good bikes to learn how to wheely on stoppies etc. ive had several ktms now they are awesome. Its all about what style of bike suits you too i cant get on with sports bikes unless on track plus breaking my neck when i was 17 makes its ache too. supermoto rocks

The ktm 450 i found is a bit short legged for the road ok for short blast s on twisty back roads but anything else and you gonna blow it up eventually 640, 625 or 660 far better. If you want to know ought about ktms gis a shout there s also a good forum too
my 1st one

and my current one

You could do much worse than a new KTM Duke 690-all the fun but not as wild or unwieldy as the older Dukes.
A Triumph Street Triple provides an alternative to a Jap 600 with great performance in a manageble format.

yep been looking at the street triple. look lovely with a more manageable position to a beginner than a supersport
