basically get two small plates welded on to the beam ( black bits) these two plates will have holes in for brackets to hold ARB down.

then get a suitable thickness Arb (green bit) from a vehicle of your choice, and use rose joints (red bits) to link the ends of them to the current ARB plates??

this would remove the need to machine beam for bigger ARB and TB's and Greatly Reduce the cost.

The clio Uses a simular setup and i think it could be a viable option?

My understanding is that i could use a hefty ARB from a van or something as long as the lengh is suitable, and be able to run High Poundage springs on the front with out inducing oversteer?

opposed to welding it to beam you could attach it to the two metal parts that the beam mounts attach to - carriers??

i run 21tb and a hybrid arb
but if i put something like 700lbs springs on front il just get epic understeer?
so fitting a meaty old external ARB will help to counter it no?

as per 2nd post proper torsion bars are 200 plus quid and then cost of machining.....
this is cheap as chips thus greatly reducing cost..

if i could justify spending 300 quid on bars then it would be fine.
this method will cost 50 quid odd and give great gains i think.
as miles said it was available as an upgrade for the clios

Pretty much every car without a torsion bar runs exactly the same ARB setup (Obviously!). You could also get some nice Whiteline adjustable ARB's if you did this setup. Let me know how you get on, I would be interested in doing something like this. I have a 24mm Whiteline Adjustable ARB in my garage! It was very stiff when it was fully adjusted.

Don't some Peugeots actually have this set up?

I can't see why it won't work.

no machining required on top of the £200 for torsion bars.

Welding two plates in place is hardly machining!

Give it a go!

You can go far enough that you've basically turned your independent suspension into a solid beam axle though...
700lb springs without bigger torsion bars will be epic understeer anyway.

what would be the highest poundage springs usable before understeer would set in?
if i was using a 34-35mm ARB on rear?

Your ARB can only work one torsion bar with the other, it get to the point of diminishing returns without bigger TB's too.
