The car wash in tewkesbury did yes. Will have to cut the boot plywood but should be ok.

After a drive over to Woburn and back via the B roads its getting close to being a proper Q-car now. Few issues with the damping setup but the weight transfer and lift-off oversteer are good. Very different to drive - feels a lot smaller now. Ninja

New front springs tomorrow as its going coilbound a lot at the moment.

In the last 10 days (on a tiny, tiny budget...) its had:

Replacement fluids (all)
130k M56 Gearbox
Hybrid C/V70 driveshaft
5 lost bolts (fairly important ones)
Front lambda sensor (Bosch wideband)
iPD boost controller
Boost actuator hoses (fuel hose)
Rear window mk2 made from perspex and gaffer tape

Needs a replacement crank sensor.

Creates and holds bost well, but hiccups from the crank sensor now and then. Did 14 laps of combe on saturday with no issues - getting 120+ at the end of the main straight.

No more spending on this shed for some time now, although i'm going to research a cheap home built methanol injection kit.Ninja

Now getting 30.3 mpg average, but I need to drop the intercooler out and clean it. Marked difference between hot afternoons and cool evenings and will never have been done. Still need a crank sensor too.

I don't understand this thread now.

As for crying jesus I thought it'd done its thing. Nearly put it on the back of the car, but decided against it.

What's wrong with it now?

You think you bought a bit of a lemon, or is it just at the point where some cash needs spending?

Bit of both - its obviously got some hidden history, but nothing major.

Most cars will need quite a bit sorting at 140k if they've only ever had the basics (oil/filter/cambelt) covered in the history. No sensors ever changed and, apart from the gearbox, its just wear and tear.

I was just hoping to have a few miles in it before it happened!! This is one of the main attractions to the ex-police cars - everything is normally tip-top in that respect.

So what are the plans, flog it? Or are you invested now with the money already spent?
Must be knocking on £4-5k now

I always hear mixed views on ex-plod cars, every now and then an officer will coem along and warn you off.

Go on, fit those fiddle brakes and manhandle it 'round...

Shame the STC doesn't actually lock the rear brakes instead of dabbing them as it does a very similar thing. It would have an electronic heart attack if it did though.

PM me a cost Phil. Will get on your stickers this week Thumbs up

Only just noticed this LOL

I *think* there's an old pair on the shelf somewhere, I'll have a rummage around if you're keeping it...

Small update

Plus:
-Boost (back)
-FMIC (cheaper than standard replacement by 4x)
-Second hand rad
-rear wash/wipe

Minus:
-rear window is still perspex/gaffer tape
-quite a few clunking noises from the front end (top mounts/drop links/engine mounts..?)
-PAS fluid needs changing
-minus front fogs, headlight wipers + motors, most of the bumper plastics to get the FMIC to fit

All fun eh? Major money issues mean its being fixed on a shoestring at the moment - been off the road for about 3 weeks in the last 2 months.

So had the codes read twice now in the last 2 weeks trying to find out why its got no boost and running lower mpg.

Turbo Control Valve has been replaced, the iPD one binned in favour of standard as it should work and not upset the ecu.

Front springs have just been changed (finally) today for 200mm, 90s so hopefully that will help the shit ride quality and improve body control. Also iPD HD drop links as the originals weren't great. Finally sourced a decently priced whole rear subframe to sort out the bent parts on mine.

Rear lambda is showing a code at the moment, otherwise its all ok. Still no boost, but that could be the lambda as its pretty important in the scheme of things.
