I'm going to Mpumalanga, near Emalahleni so not a million miles East of Pretoria. Laugh

Not sure i'll have room for much though, what were you thinking of?

Productive start to the morning after changing a friends driveshaft, we turned to the Rallye. Subframes swapped out and VTS rack equipped seam welded subframe installed yo. Group N Linkages on and ready, new clutch cable run but appears that the spring on my clutch pedal is f*cked, gonna have to find a new one of those.

These turned up just in time for installation. Richw roller bearing bushes and pretty much brand new balljoints.

Should eliminate the wooly handling, coupled with the PhillipM Droplinks i've just bought.

Engine bay prepped I turned attentions to the gearbox. The diff required some fettling as I was warned, grinding of a couple of casting webs inside the box. Not too taxing, just trial and error.

Blue checked it one last time and job's a good'un. Box rebuilt and ready to mate with the engine in the morning.

Simple Update for the day albeit not simple by task. Engine and box are in the bay, suspension and driveshafts re-built and car is on the deck.

That's where I wanted it to get to prior to South Africa. Probably buy some cheap oil to drop in the engine and box just to keep things lubed up.

It'll go well with the RichW pulley and flywheel it has. Yes

Going to be a proper little rocket. Will handle very nicely too with the new wishbones and droplinks, once i've got around to fitting the VTS beam. Smile

Liking the build thread.. Does seam welding the front subframe make a lot of difference to handling? Also how much were the Gaz golds and are they any good lol?

seam welding makes a difference as the front of the car relies heavily on it, it's mounted in 6 points after all, and bridges the two engine bay walls. It's only two pressings spot welded together as standard. I mainly had it done as i had a spare and it was free though. Laugh I can't comment on the practical difference yet as it's only come off stands today and i'm about to foxtrot oscar with work for a few months on Friday. Laugh It's Fred Flintstone spec atm.

Gaz Golds are nice, give a very nice ride and are adjustable for road/track differentiation. Smile

It'll be interesting to find out the improvement. Did you go straight to gaz for the shocks? Were they silly money?

I got the Gaz second hand off here from someone who broke a track car. Smile They still command good prices second hand, they're quite expensive new but a very nice setup.

I'd have that or KW V2 if they come up.

Nice, love it. Won't get around to fitting them for a bit. Berger will probably steal them from my house. Shifty

Good to see the progress mate, just a shame it has to be put on hold, but like you say - got to take opportunities like that when you can.

On another note, saw a cerbera exactly like yours today, they are rather tasty!

Yeah same colour, I hadn't seen one before either and I immediately thought of yours, but there's not a lot up my way that would require your services so thought it must be some other lucky buggers!

The droplinks, looks like they have a boot over the rose joints that I assume is grease filled?

Are these are changable if they rip or anything?

Yeah they're packed with grease. They're plenty flexible so not sure how they'd get ripped but they're readily available. Yes

I know where you live too if my Rallye goes walkabobut. Razz

In that case i'll tow it up to Wigan, dump it in your new garage and then you can build it whilst i'm away, but i'll keep hold of the key. Laugh

Well, my trip to SA got delayed by 7 days in the end due to complications with the SA project office. I semi-prepared the rallye for long term standing, to try and do as many jobs as possible to prevent things being forgotten.

Peugeot's finest

PTFE inlet manifold gasket

All new Nylocs on the suspension and steering arms

Inlet manifold, injectors and fuel rail on

GE quickshift fitted

Lower strut brace fitted

Loom back in and cranking off the HDi to get some oil to the head.

Looking a bit more presentable at least, however I flew to SA on the 1st April so it's already been standing a fortnight nearly. itching to finish it but having an awesome time out here.

Finally saw it in it's rusty brake disc glory yesterday as i'm home for a brief period of weeks and already left it to come up and see the family. It's modified itself in my absence - it had grown moss between the bumper and the garage door. Laugh

I'm aiming to try and do a bit more before I have to return to SA but will be tricky to finish it as i've got to prioritise other things, like changing the HDi clutch. It also doesn't help the washers have packed up on it!
