hi all, the pug has been performing fine for a change for 2 months, but friday last week it decided it didnt want to play ball, and is now idling at 2k doesnt decrease if i press the clutch in or anything, i have changed the ICV for a working one and reset the ECU, but it hasnt fixed my problem, just wondering what else would cause this?

cheers

Throttle cable is fine, as its happend as i was driving. I have taken it off and turned it on and the high idle was still there. I unplugged the MAP sensor with the engine running, and the idle cured itself, changed the sensor with another one. And still no change, have unpdone the battery so will leave that for abit and see whats what then if its not, what else could it be? Cheers

Mine did similar, it would idle high, then when upto temp would go between 1k and 2k, and hold the revs while driving, it turned out to be an sir leak from 2 cracked pipes, I couldn't hear any airleak myself.

Reet still not found the prob, but i now think its something to do with the ICV, checked the vacume pipes and all was well. So i thought i would check the icv again so i had the car running took the breather filter off the icv pipe and with it idling at 2k i put my had over the pipe and the idle cut down, so unsure as the whats goin on, will change the icv again tomorrow, but has anyone got any final ideas?

Cheers

It's 1million % the icv I have taken mine out and cleaned it twice since owning the car and every time u clean it and put it back in and reset the ecu it just seems to do the same at some points mine was ticking over at 4k from cold then hunting between 800 and 1200 rpm as I said even tho it was cleaned and ecu reset, be patient and let the ecu adapt to it again it takes a few days but I promise it will settle itself hope this helps Smile

manchester, so about a 2 and a half hours drive from you Smile

will give it a few days for the ICV to set itself wether that will do anything or not i dont know, was just told it took a few hours driving for the icv to sort itself on a mates car when he fitted one.

Bit of a drive then Haa!! If that fails then the only thing I can suggest is to get the fault removed from the ecu as it may have stored the fault, other that have you adjusted your throttle cable at all? Mine was slack when I bought it so I adjusted it on the adjuster by the tb but it has to be just right otherwise it will idle high no matter what you do.
