Recently I've had issues with DS2500 pads which basically fell to bits in 600 miles.

I returned them to where I bought them and they chased ferodo on my behalf as he agreed something wasnt right (I've had about 4 sets of DS2500 pads from them without issue in the past). Anyhow I'm now getting told that ferodo are saying its not a piston issue but a caliper issue because of the way they have worn.

Yes, usually I get some un-even pad wear from inside/outside pads and I swap pads about regular to gain even wear along with ensuring everything is good with the calipers.

You may remember a while back I posted that it felt like I had a master cylinder or air in the system issue following fitting these pads. It was actually the pads that have never bitten right, from cold or hot!

After spending £110 on a set of pads, for them to fail after only 600 miles and then for ferodo to wash there hands of it. You can imagine Im not the happiest. Even more so by the fact that I put standard pads on and they out performed the DS2500, have already covered a few thousand miles and a few trackdays and still have plenty left on them!

I've always recommended Ferodo but now Im seriously cheesed off. Even more the fact after finding more of you are having similar issues (jeffers, and another lad I know from another forum)

My pads after 600miles, you can see how they are breaking up, and you could see the material stuck to my wheel at the time.

And the lad from another forum.

quote:
here's what happened to my brake pads this monday on a track. in the morning - everything looked fine, there was enough of pad.

after 1st and 2nd run - the same. but after 3rd:

i had to brake with engine& hanbrake back home for about 220km (180of highway). lot of fun :scared:

anyways - no more Ferodo for me then (something similar happened to a friend with his 350z and ferodo's week before) and i'm moving to CL RC5+
plus i have to get that feredo shit cleaned of the brake discs..

Any more of you out there.

mine havent done that but agree with what you say about outperformed by standard pads. they are f*cking shocking!
they are really bad.
was barely stopping me at rockingham. 1144's p*ss all over these pads and they cost less.

im moving to RC6 or yellowstuff next.

edit. cold bite is non existant and hot bite even worse!
its almost like theres a think layer of copperslip between pads and discs.

Nail on the head.

I dont know what they have done, but I dont know how they can justify the cost!

The photo looks like the pads have not been braking with equal pressure resulting in one pad being ripped off and the other being ceased on the disc which would bubble out all the material leaving a pitted mess. The discs look shocking too.
