Ok, I can only do these jobs after hours during the week so any time after 5 is good for me. It should take 2-2.5 hours depending on the condition of the chassis cup.

Hey Davey, I live in Australia and I have just brought a new 306 gti6 today as my 2nd car (first car was another 306 but a p plater wrote it off). My dad and I nailed the problem down to what you have to fix here, but we wondering the dimensions and measurement for your design as we live a fair while away and it would take a while for the parts to come ):
Really need this fixed as I am really eager to drive my new car D;

I can't give you an exact dimension, it's a "D" shaped piece of 3mm mild steel which then gets formed with hammers and oxy/acetylene, each one comes out ever so slightly different and therefore may require a little fettling to fit perfectly, so you will have to do what I did, start from scratch by making a cardboard template and go from there. The packers are 20x30x4mm. Sorry I can't be of anymore help than that but to explain every stage of the job step by step would take me all night.

Just wanted to add my words of thanks to the many on here. I took my 306 to Jim for the Daveyboy treatment yesterday as it was making a pretty grim noise whenever I put my foot down.

Jim really took the time to check the car over, it turned out the cup was not broken so only the 'wedge mod' was needed to sort the top mount out.

He also went under the car and found a lot of play around the lower mount which he cured by tightening up stuff I wouldn't hsve known to do.

It's made all the difference to the car, brought back all the 306 'flow' that it had lost.

Jim is an absolute gent, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. If your engine is moving around and like me you don't have the skills or facilities to sort it, he can see you right.
