Forgot to add this in here, I had this repair done over xmas and am very happy with it.

Jim is a great bloke and he obviously takes a lot of care over his work. Now I have smoother shifts, much less shunt when backing off the throttle, and the peace of mind that the mount isn't going to fail.

Money well spent in my eyes, cheers Jim!

Well I found the radiator cap was lifting all the time and squirting out coolant, so I've got a new one of those and I'll keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed that's where the water was going.

I'm away with work again at the moment, so won't know if that's helped for a while.

Daveyboy, can you tell me how thick the plates are that you weld in to limit the buffer's travel?? Mine had a single slight crack and i repared it according to your advice on my project thread. But i did not weld in the 2 plates to limit the travel of the mount Sad

O/T I havent forgotten about the set of rear beam mounts, just have been very busy lately, i'll get some pics and try to find out postage costs to send them to you mate Thumbs up

Marco, I'd go for between 2-3mm or 1/8" either side.

Jim's mum isn't too well at the moment so I don't think there's a massive rush on his mounts.

Cheers guys, the buffers are from 3 or 4mm material, 4mm is a bit of a squeeze but gives a firmer mount.

not really, its easy enough for a half decent mechanic/fabricator to make up a piece of metal with a nut welded to the underneath, trouble is they seem so far few and between!

So you all know, my Mother who was financial director for the two shops we own was taken ill with a stroke, it later transpired that she had suffered a series of mini-strokes prior to the big one that nearly killed her. Unknown by us it would appear this affected her ability to keep tabs on and process several important functions, namely paying certain taxes and some other critical payments. This coupled to the fact that there was a substantial period during which we were unable to send out invoices and statements without her has left a big gap in the cashflow. We are coping and have taken steps to work our way out of the hole we are in but keeping the family business afloat has taken priority over my out of hours forum work. For the time being I'm not taking on any work outside of what I do for R H Davey Welding Supplies as I'm working flat out trying to complete business that will pay the wages for the 15 staff members we currently employ. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by the interruption in service but I'm trying to safeguard my parents income as well as keep a roof over their heads and mine, and that's going to come first every time.

Cheers Graeme, shes out of danger now as shes on Statins to keep her blood pressure normal. Since shes been home she looks years younger,. Bieng away from the stress of work and living/eating healthy has really helped, but her business accumen and tax, employment law savvy are all greatly reduced so we are having to take advice from paid outsiders which is very new to us and an extra expense we could do without.
