Top work mike.. Very clean install and makes me wanna go charge another just for the build up:B

With all this RR banter.. i am in need of a run to see what astor is running.

Hayward and scott Rule.. they did our track 200sx and it passed all noise ratings even at 3" bore.. Although boost pipe in stainless steel if thats what it is, isnt ideal.. although beautiful.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the kind words, guys Cheers

It's not all been smooth sailing, and I'll admit on a couple of occasions I've come pretty close to torching the bas**rd thing! LOL but got there in the end. I'll write up some of the teething troubles I had soon, as you never know it might help other people.

For now though, I'm just going to go out there and enjoy driving it. Next stop: Cadwell Park Big grin

Read this last night, although didn't comment as I couldn't see any of the pics.

Nice write up Mike, boost piping looks good!

Really like the intergrated FMIC and rad solution, thinking about this myself now as im getting overheating issues, and I keep catching my boost piping on things (recently compared original Vs current photos of my car and decided its about -60mm instead of -40mm I initially thought it was.

Where did you stash the engine oil cooler in the end?

Thanks very much! Happy

As far as the aircon pipes go, there's nothing really to see - they run in the standard position/routing. There's a small gap between the IC and the water rad where the aircon condenser goes.. and it's a good idea to enclose the rads with aluminium tape so that air is forced through rather than escaping out the sides..

More updates soon!

Razz It's a GTI6 not a Rallye!

I am making the car that I believe the GTI6 would have become.. it's got to be comfortable to drive to the 'ring and back. Megane 250, Focus RS etc. have aircon and you've only got to be stuck queuing in the 'ring car park in July being blasted by warm air to regret your decision!

Besides, when I go to Le Mans in it, and the cooler's full of steak, I need to be able to do this:

Big grin

Can't say exactly - it was part of the overall job which included the custom exhaust and some other shizzle (plus I had my best haggling trousers on).

Won't be cheap though, Hayward & Scott don't do "cheap" Wink

They do overpriced junk. IMO.

I have fitted quite a few H&S on Porsches for people.

The next one that fits properly will be the first.Roll eyes

Welding is second rate too.

I hope yours is ok for you.

That's a shame to hear - my first dealings with them was for an RMB ("rear muffler bypass") for my 928, which fitted fine and sounds fantastic. Cool

306-wise, they made an exhaust for Chris/farmer's supercharged 6, which was quite simply a work of art to behold. Seeing his, I decided to go for the same (btw if you want poor quality, you should have seen the "Longlife" that I had on before which was toast after less than 18 months Thumbs down but that's a franchise and I guess it depends on the branch etc.)

Anyway, hand on heart I'm happy with mine**, no problem with the welds or the fit - even when I had an initial issue with the noise level, Ian worked hard to ensure I was happy.

Were you by any chance dealing mail-order and off the shelf, or did you actually give them the car to work on? Unsure Or maybe they had the bas**rd stepchild in working that day?

(I have no affiliation with H&S whatsoever btw, just surprised your experiences with them differ so much to mine)

** Of course now I'm worried the thing is going to fall off and pole vault the car and me into a ravine! LOL

Customer supplied the bits which they got from H&S. I am sure that if they had taken the car to them they would have made it all fit.

I am glad you are happy and I am sure it will not fall off.

Well, not straight awayLOL

Wow! They seemed to be the be-all and end-all for legacies when had one. But then everyone seemed to take their cars to them to have them fitted.

I was considering asking them about my front manifold downpipe but i'll have a look around instead now. Not a difficult job, just in stainless. Unless I find a turbo that is floating about needing a home...Whistle

Awesome car mate, I regret my Air Con doesn't work. I hit the ring in my old Fabia vRS (Coldest air con I've ever had). So I'm worried about my next trip! Might have to go in the winter...
