iv had my aux belt snap twice, not sure why the first aux belt snapped but second time my pulley bearings fell to bits. Bearings get a hard life where I live the roads really dusty and then crappy and wet in autumn. Never done any serious damage to my car luckily enough.

That video sounds like its from the bearings, hard to tell but my bearings have made that noise before, usually a fair bit quieter right enough ; and then goes away after 5 minutes

not sure about alignment, but mine has been off heaps of times there isnt any way to change the alignment as far as i could ever see

im sure richw would be your best port of call?

new belt fitted and wiring repaired eg, the horrible sound has gone, sounds nice again, see how it goes, financially it's looking like the car will not be getting any extra goodies done to it for a while Sad
But I thought I could use the time instead to polish her and get her looking gleaming again Smile
Underneath around the front corner bits of the chassis/floor are starting to look rusty allready Sad the paint I put on hasn't stuck here, I didn't use etch primer on these bits, I wonder if that's anything to do with it.
maybe I could get this sorted also.
I need a nice big garage and ramp like Carl, as soon as this cars finished, that's my next project.

gave her a wash the other day and jamma'd my phone and Photobucket account up, so thought id jamma my project thread up also:

Got the crystals back in, Im not sure wether to refit the black masks yet, I like these, I'll save my masks till I get bored I think:

I need the motivation to get a good day or two to clay bar, machine polish and wax her, but just don't seem to be able to find it, can anybody recommend what cutting polish to use first to remove some squirls and minor faint scratches?
I've a meguiars DA I've had for a couple of years now and havnt had the time or mojo to use it, I was going to follow it up after using autoglym sr polish with the machine as I have nearly 3 litres of the stuff, I have a nice wax for after thats called supernatural or something, again bought 2 years ago, well I think it's decent as it was about £60 for a small tub. All I need is something for a light cut, some tape for the rubbers eg, a load of mojo and a rainless day or two that's not scorching.

If it's just a freshen up Meguiars #80 is a fairly cheap finishing polish.

it's just to remove the squirls and small tiny scratches eg before a couple of polishes with ag super resin by machine, followed by the wax I've had ages Smile.
The major scratch on it is too deep to remove I think Sad

Manstone is the best colour by far, astor is on par but it gets mucky too quick I've been told and I believe it, china is ok when it's in good nick but squirls stand out more been a dark colour whereas Manstone seems to hide any scratches and squirls remarkably well, pity about the small dents.

Well I've been spending a couple of hour a day over the last few days clay barring the car with an autoglym clay bar and I've forgot what lube as it was a while back when I poured it into the empty autoglmyn spray detailer bottle that came in the clay kit I bought ages ago. , it's surprising how filthy a very clean looking car actually is, the paint feels and sounds like sandpaper but after spending some time with the clay it feels like polished glass.
So far I've done the d/s rear quarter panel, the boot lid, all 3 rear windows and today I've done the little panel below the bootlid, this took me ages as I had to resort to the ag paint renovator to clean up the fiddly bits around and in the badges:
Before:

After:

the car hasn't seen any polish for about 2 years so hopefully when I've finished and finally removed all squirls and polished and waxed her she will be much easier to keep clean, there's tiny weeny particles of rusty steel stuck to the paint, can only see it when close up with the clay, it's from when I repointed the
Front of my house up a couple of year back, the tiny particles of steel are from the grinding wheel slowly breaking down/shrinking after days of use, must of blown it right round the house over the car, there's also tiny flecks of white paint over her aswell as all the general dirt that's soaked in.
Nothing the clay bar isn't easily moving anyway, she's going to look like a different car when I eventually finish.

What are you looking at for mapping - sub £500?

Drop in the ocean compared to what you must have spent. Got to be more than the list price of when it was new surely?

If I'd spent that amount, I'd be rushing to get it mapped so I could make the best use of the money pit LOL

Pot kettle, as I need to sort my mapping. But I'm defo going to book it tomorrow.

It Probably cost more than a new one but its definatly a lot better than when it left the factory Yes
I'm Not using her though remember and hardly have so far, if I was using her then I would make sure I had it done by now.
I'll be changing the exhaust and the intercooler and boost pipework anyway so this wants doing before mapping eg so I'm still a while off a complete project yet, that's if there is such thing.
I think I listed the jobs I have to do before mapping above somewhere, it's going to be next year when she gets mapped I reckon, but best things come to those who wait, I hope.

Just get a cheap 1/2 inch paintbrush, cut the bristles down so it's stiffer and squirt some APC over the badges.
