might take a punt on them then. £302 delivered for set of r1r versus £478 for 888s.

Was r32 on track or road?

On road after picking it up from getting mapped with new cams, same compound as 888's but with better treads for dispersion of water so I'm told, seem to be a cracking tyre imo

With my sceptical hat on - for the same company to supply 2 products at differing prices, there must be a reason why the R888 is more expensive. There must be some differences in compound or the carcass somehow. Do the R1R's have a weaker wall?

R1R's are more road biased, so the carcass is softer to generate more heat when it's cold, etc.

but they have more tread blocks, so they heat up more anyway.

You don't get even temperatures just relying on tread flex though.

That is for T1R's, not the R1R's in question Yes

i have used the r1r on my 205 and they are very good. i have gone back to t1r's now and i hate them, so different to the r1r's that i can't push the car hard like i used to. the r1r's are currently £280 for 4 at topgear in bridport and there isn't much that can match them for the money.

Yes I fecking detest T1r's with a passion too. I love 888's but can't really afford a full set at the moment.

I will be using the tyres i eventually buy purely for the track on c5 wheels. I have cyclones and avon ZV5 for the road.

The only reservation I have is will they the will wear quickly and overheat in the dry my thinking is yes.

I don't like the sound of them having a softer carcass than 888's either.
