Ive put a fixed bucket in the Rallye, so the pre-tension is obviously disconncted, resulting in tedious light on dash board.

Will this light being on flag up an MOT failure??
"if its fitted it must be working" kind of affair?

remove bulb and all your problems suddenly go away at mot time. that is not the cure, but testers are arseholes, and will pass it

Yeah, tis what i thought, but i didnt want to get involved in dash removal if i didnt have to. but if it will result in a a bit FAIL then i guess i'll have to get in there. Never taken a dash off before...is it easy?

not dash removal.. just undo the 3 or 4 torx bolts for the speedo and the little plastic surround, get your hand in behind it once it's pulled forward, unplug the 4 or 5 connectors, wiggle speedo out behind steering wheel (removing s/wheel makes life so much easier but it can be done by prizing the top of the wheel back slightly for clearance) and find the bulb behind there. simple job, 5 mins max in reality

i've had my speedo in and out loads and loads, it's really simple Yes

i do believe your other airbags won't work tohugh if one has a problem No so don't expect your steering wheel airbag to go off.. i was told it was a circuit in which if one fails, they all fail. i didn't care cos i took them all out anyway

they should fail it if it's flashing really i think Unsure

if it doesn't come on atall they tend not to notice it. it should do the check on ignition. at that point if they know you have airbags and the light doesn't flash, it's obvious it's bodged or the light is removed. this is less obvious than a flashing bulb though

i asked my MOT test guys before i put my car in if the airbag light was a failure, and they said no, it went through fine too, about a month ago, i have buckets in mine also, so i wouldnt worry too much. Im too short (seats low) to see the light flashing over my steering wheel so dont even notice it anymore.

My brother is an ex MOT tester and he also told me that the airbag light being on is not a failure.

Its a secondary safety device to a seat belt which must operate correctly.

airbag light is not a failure.. ABS light is.. so you should be fine. if you want to be safe... as Rikky says... a few torx screws and the clocks are out.

If the airbag is still fitted thats a pretty stupid idea, I most likely result in you getting smashed in the face when the airbag deploys LOL
