My 6 has just had head work and piper 272 cams... Im going to get it mapped my Wayne at chip wizards soon, but the problem is I live 4 hours drive away...
Will it be okay to do such a long journey in the car before it has been mapped up to the new cams?
Thanks

I would say no, if you have a misfire or any detonation then your car will die long before you get there. Can you organise a trailer or recovery truck with a beaver-tail?

I don't know anyone with a trailer unfortunately, and I'm guessing that a recovery truck would cost an arm and a leg?
So can I not drive it at all until it's mapped..?

disconnect the battery for 10 mins then start the car up let it idle for a min or 2 and take it for a drive, the ecu will detect decent settings. You might need to have the ecu unlocked tho. The only tweaking i needed was to fit and adjust an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. (and maybe the cam timing if they arnt set perfect 1st time Smile )

Search Ebay for cheap car transport services. They usually charge around

you dont need it to be mapped! look at my spec and mine has not been mapped!
It may perform better if it was mapped but cant justify spending 400 quid for a few hp.
Just drive it you will love it.

    haha I did think this...
Yeah pugheaven, I spoke to someone at pug performance today and he said exactly the same thing!
Although I also spoke to a local tuning company and they suggested that I would be best getting a stand alone ecu, as the standard ecu will not adjust that much, only a little...
I'm going to a local rr next week to see how much power she has, and if it's not on the money I guess I will have to go down the stand alone route...
All these mixed opinions are very confusing :s

    some amazingly BAD advice.

drive the car there, under 3k and it will be fine,

having cam's it will benefit from a remap and the std ecu will be able to mapped to compensate for it, no probs Wink

wayne has mapped mine and i have a graph for 195bhp Wink

touch more than std Big grin

kenny had his car cammed at pugperformance, meaning his is not mapped. and his is fine???

is there any truth in what this company are saying??
i popped down there today, and asked about cams , he said you dont need a remap .
are they just saying that because they are not able to map themselves??
