When i was at FCS the car was getting hot on the track everytime i booted it, ive not hand chance to give it any stick on the road realy, other than a few little blasts

I noticed that it started to get hot in traffic, started to go into the red 110+, so ive bodged a fan switch in to prevent that from getting worse for now.

When i drive normal it runs at 100-110, when i give it some it goes into the red and stays up there for a long time.

Have any other SC boys had any problems with overheating, what with having an intercooler infront of the rad.

I dont know what to do, i can run around in it driving normal, but whats the point in that aye lol i want it to run right all the time, dont want to be going to a track day and having to stop after a few laps with problems.

Dan

Have you tried bleeding the rad and re-filling with fresh water/coolant/whatever you put in it

Are you using a nissens rad?

Appreciate my completely useless input that you already know no doubt.

Big grin

was going to suggest an oil cooler. That sorted my problems for high running temps on track when giving it death as mine was getting into the red within minutes beforehand.

Also check the oil pump as Im sure stilly had an issue with oil temps and when he put a new pump in the problems went away

Ive bled the system a few times and that seems ok, :touchwoodsmiley

I also spent quite some time in the pits at FCS bleeding the system, a few people may have spotted me, 106lad gave a helping hand aswell Smile

Ive not got an oil cooler yet, but i shall be aiming to get one soon enough to see if that can help.

Im running a nissens rad Yes

Ive been driving the car a little hard today, but not fast fast and the temps didnt go over 90-95 but i had the fans on with my new switch, i just dont fancy running the fans all the time, i shouldnt need to realy, especially when other SC boys have no majour problems Smile

Most of them are running with an oil-cooler though I believe? Once moving the fans will do very little to aid cooling either so you would be best off finding and sorting your cooling issue without resorting to using the fans all the time. Before fitting my cooler (on a standard engine) trackday oil temps were well north of 110 degrees, so on a boosted engine placing more demands on the oil/water cooling system coulped to the fact you will have a large intercooler reducing the flow to an already streched capacity rad and blasting it with warm air it's unsurprising you are having issues. A nice 16 row cooler with a thermostat in the sandwich plate would be a sensible precaution anyway.

No problems for me running the high boost. The most I have seen the water temp in my car was on track at FCS, and that was 95C....Yes

Think there's one 19-row Mocal, one 22-row Mocal, and a 25-row Setrab.
Have to double check though.

Old ones from when we were running the veedub, not needed any more, bar the setrab one that we just used for one event on the buggy before swapping it out for something huuggee.
So they'll be for sale at the right price Smile

over about 40mph the fans do nothing, so no point having them on all the time

maybe either move the intercooler, or fit a thicker rad

having an oil cooler is going to help the water instantly as it's not being heated up by the oil

I cant move the intercooler, no room anywhere else Sad

I'd have to get a custom rad though wouldnt i, not sure if ther is a standard fit thicker rad to buy off the shelf.

An oil cooler is deff on the cards next i think Smile just need to find a space for it Sad

While moving at standard cruising speed your water temp should be around 80 and your oil temp should be around 90 Yes Even when giving it some beans the oil should only go up a little and the water should top out at just over 100.

On track when you are giving it some lap after lap after lap then it will be best to get an oil cooler for sure but with your setup there shouldnt be any issues on the road No
