I hope so. The best thing about the Xsara (aside from the looks) was it's steeringSmile

How hard is a RAM to fit? and how much would you expect to pay for one?

I really want one on my hdi, you turn the wheel lots for little return.

As said above you want to change the rack not the ram. The VTS is getting more common in scrap yards now and you can get them for

I can already tell you without looking that the GTi-6 steering rack has a unique part number.

Virtually the same lock-to-lock as a base model rack when you take into account the limiter though.

Sorry for digging up a fairly old topic, but if I was to fit a VTS rack to a 1.9TD, using the 1.9TD ram, would it have the same steering lock as it does now with the 1.9 rack, but it'd get there with less turning on the steering wheel?

Very basic description I know but the more simples the better Wink

Lovely, cheers for that. Any idea how much less the steering wheel turns?

Mine has about 1200-1350 or so degrees lock at the moment, and I've got a mate with an MX5 and his is something like 900 degrees and it feels great.

Is that with a GTi ram, or 5 speed box ram?

Or does it make no difference, I'd have thought it would though..?

Right. And does the VTS ram have allow as much lock as a 5 speed 306 ram? As apposed to the 6 speed gti one I mean.

Thanks!

Brill. Cheers for that, I'll be on the look out for a vts rack now then, one day..!

Have you ever been to Curbourgh phillipm? Went the other day and that's whats made me fancy a quick rack after a drive of my mates mx5.

I reckon it'd be a good place for a forum meet, anyway I'm going way off topic now.

Yeah, great little place, keep trying to organise a day there but it's a bit of a pain in the arse trying to get a date when everyone is happy.

I never needed a quick rack in my 1.4 there though, lifting off did just nicely LOL

No that's true, I don't need one for there exactly, it just feels nicer. Feel like you have to stick on quite a bit of lock most of the corners, but I've not learnt to use lift off oversteer yet!
