Well, i had the TB welded onto the charger this morning, finished off all the main bits of the setup and fired it up.

The outlet on the charger is just running a silicone hose for now, borrowd one off my mate just to get it running, will need changeing though, as it collapses at idle

I think the heads tapping and thers something wrong with the idle, i have a petrol leak, a water leak and a powersteering leak Sad

It sits at 2k, give it some revs and back on idle, it hunts, up and down, up and down.

Icv was fine before i started all this.

The leaks are easy fixed though, fuel pressure regulator has lost its clip i noticed, so think thats sorted when i find one, powersteering, i think it might have sorted itself out, but if not i know where the problem lays, bottom hose on the pump will be loose i reckon
water leak is from thermostat cover, the plastic bit, just get some instand gasket on ther Smile

I should feel great thats its atleast working, but i can help but feel shit Sad

well played getting it started, did you hear the engine run before you put it in? (i.e. the tapping?)

Wouldnt that leave the throttle bodie open ? by the looks of it from the outside, i can see the plastic bit sits correctly at its resting point

Unfortunatly i didnt hear the engine running before, but it was from a respected member, so i fear it may have been me that might have fooked it up doing the cambelt, although the engine has been stood for a very long time, it might just sound rough, it did get quieter you see, guna see what its like after a good run

hunting would usally mean to me there is a vacume leak somwhere, check your inlet manifold gasket, and check any hoses etc after the afm.. sorry im not 100% sure on these engines, only just learning but speaking from past experiance here.. and hunting is usally air leaks aswell as high idling, failing that could it not be a sensor?

Yea, i was thinking the same aswell.

Im guna be checking over the vac system, maybe replacing the pipes, i have some braided hose in the right size iirc

Then if things dont improve, will be looking at the inlet manifold ptfe gasket, and also the icv and the various sensors ive had to extend

bollox, just re-read the guide, does indeed say sealant must be used on all TB components LOL

does your pipe work route round ok then?? im guessing there is no room for the likes of an oil cooler rad or any other rad at all at the front then??

Ive had to remove the washer bottle and its bracket, but other than that, it goes round ok, the pipe sits hard against the chassis leg and is very close to the belt, but its not going to touch, i need to wedge the front pipe or pull it forward somemore to get it to clear, havent figured how im going to do that though.

I shall be messing with the battery tray to house the new washer bottle setup, and also to hold the ecu properly, then i will have space for a catch tank behind, maybe incorporated in the box, the manifold cooler pipe is going to be in the way, but i shall trim the box down to suit, be easy large enough for a washer bottle, will just have to get one fabricated to fit inside Smile

trick i learnt was to buy a can of "easy start" or similar, and give all inlet manifolds etc a quirt around the joints, whilst the engine is running, if there is a air leak you should hear it suck it in , and the revs will raise, not sure how possible that will though due to the hunting.

Yes

Agreed, Carb spray or similar helps identify leaks easy

Yes it is indeed on the road and running

The old TB heater pipe is the problem to the bad idle i think, i noticed it was a bit loose and has an odd size pipe conecting it to the TB bit, so will be having a look at that 2moz

The rad is a bit old and tired aswell, it has a small leak on the bottom bit where the hose goes in, but im not sure if thats just because it hasnt sealed right, also another thing to look at

Smile
