Right here goes: have been looking a ways to remve the ABS and rear compensator thing, and have come across a few problems.
I am ok with theory behind the duel curcuit braking system so understand that I wll need two t conectors to distribute the two master cylinder feeds, now my problem is how will I bias the system. I cant seem to find and duel curcuit Bias valves, do they exsist or would I have to buy two and make sure they are set the same?
Also I am asuming the biasing at the moment is done by the ABS pump is that right? or is it all done by the compensator.
If this sound stupid I am sorry but I am runnig out of hair to pull out

nope they don;t exist, you need to remove the line from one port of the MC and blank it off, and feed the rear brakes off a single line via the bias valve.

you might want to look into the insurance side of things there chris, most insurance companies really don't approve.

Hi,

I removed the ABS from my ZX 2.0L 16v (pretty much a 306 in different cloths), this is well worth doing for a track car and the pump weighs almost as much as a battery and it's very poorly placed for weight balance.

The ABS doesn't do any balancing of the breaking force, well not on the ZX anyway. I just used one half of the master cylinder to the front brakes (back outlet)and another to the back, on the ZX there are only two outlets.

If you simply do this you'll find that the rear brakes are too strong in some conditions so typically the solution is a pressure limiting valve that stops the pressure at the rear brakes going above some predetermined

Hi,

Can't argue with your weight assessment as it went to the skip a long time ago!!! Last car part I had reason to weigh was an inlet cam and that was pretty much 2kgs, seem to remember the ABS pump being heaver than that, mind playing games with me I guess.

If you want to enter into a p*ssing contest my battery weighs 6.1kgs Wink

Still an essential item to remove on a track car!!!

My pump is well heavy, a lot heavier than 2 kg I recon,

So could I use a manual bias valve to control the rears or would I need to get a load of those presure regulators you mentioned and have aplay with values

Why not just get a master cylinder of a non abs model with 4 outlets?

Hi,

These valves are not strictly speaking bias control valves they simply allow you to alter the maximum pressure setting for the rear brakes. Depending on the load in the car, the surface conditions etc

Just for reference, I had an assignment on ABS systems a while back. In the Bosch Bible it says the system fitted to the 306 weighs in at 7kg total.

that's one thing I'll keep, and still be lighter than most 306's Ninja

+1

i'd take mine off but i can't be arsed with all this hassle. couldn't you just disconnect the inlet and outlet lines from the ABS unit and connect them straight together? leaving the original compensator in place?

yup, as long as its not a phase 3.

that's how non abs cars are anyway, they use the same 2 port m/c's and a t-piece in both lines, NOT a 4 port m/c.

well mines a 99 T reg xsara so i'm not sure what phase of 6 that equates to. tbh i never noticed it was a 2 port MC, only noticed there were 4 lines going in and out of the ABS block with their respective corners marked in french.
