What's the advantage of a slightly smaller crank pulley?

You rotate the ancillaries (altenator, PAS pump etc) more slowly and reduce parasitic loss of power.

What are the life of these like to the oem flywheel? Ie the surface which is in contact with the clutch?

The surface won't mark/ get hot and warp easier than the oem flywheel?

Also, is the price still the same as on page 1?

I've seen several now heat marked and not flat, which is unsurprising given it has half the meat there to absorb the abuse!

no idea, was one a mate bought, then sold pretty sharpish as it wasn't flat, and would have cost £100 to get it skimmed due to the material.

What about the rest of them? Keen to know what they are like as it is on my list when the engine is built. I know a few with them who have not had any issues - maybe luck or unlucky for the one you know of???

I drive like a loony and mine was fine after 30,000 miles. Perhaps it had a really worn clutch on it? This isn't the only one I have and have no issues at all.

I have never seen any of the issues you describe - there are 1000's of these TTV flywheels in use over the UK and abroad, both in the UK and abroad, in road and race applications with no issues whatsoever.

The only circumstance I could see that happening is if the clutch was failing and slipping constantly, developing excessive heat.

Regards,
Rich

There isn't one available for a 205 GTi - it would be possible (but expensive) to have one made up.

Really?! EN24T machines fine with carbide tooling. Its tough but by no means hard.

But nothing stopping you using one of Rich's flywheels with a bx16v clutch
