standard is 8.8 grade, anything of that grade will suffice, it will be stamped into the head.

a shank is a good idea given there's more unthreaded hole in use that standard, but not a necessity in this application I doubt.

Had a look at servicebox, and the the factory standard M8x125-16 bolt has part no 5037 39. Found this with the specs which shows the grade of this part is 10.9, not 8.8?

http://www.autopartoo.com/oem/peugeot/503739788.html

Also found a part on servicebox 6923 G6 that appears to be a 20mm long version of this bolt, but it is 8.8 grade:

http://www.autopartoo.com/oem/peugeot/6923g6qtn.html

Would 6923 G6 be a suitable replacement for Mr Swampy's bolts for use with strut braces if he is not around at the moment? I'm keen to have an unthreaded shank on there to keep it similar to original.

interesting, I notice the FEBI logo ghosting, quite a few motorfactors are doing decent fasteners these days, probably stil more expensive than a fasteners stockholder.

I think that particular site only does stuff in bulk, but was interested in the spec of the part, and thinking it might make a good replacement to securely install a strut brace.

It doesn't really matter, both an 8.8 and 10.9 are more than strong enough for the torque level.

Are FEBI bilstein any good? I've noticed they have a number of Pug components.

I've found Febi Bilstein parts good on a number of cars I've owned - an OE manufacturer for several brands.
