Looks very good. Promising results, too. It bodes well to be that high up in a new car. Have you raced before, or still got the "hit here" cross on the back?

You might have answered this earlier in the thread - why a 1.8 rather than a 2l? Is it down to the class splits at Combe?

And what tyres do you run, and what pressures?

Thanks, yeah real good weekend for a car and set up we're still developing which bodes well for the future.

Lol, Yes I still have the 'aim here' cross on the back! This was my 3 ever race meeting.
I've not done karting or anything like that in the past. So still getting used the proximity of the cars compared to track days. Requires a totally different approach and mindset!

Using a 1.8 keeps me in class C, I don't have the budget/ability to be competitive in class B.

I was trying Toyo T1R's for the dry this weekend and varied the pressures between races but I wasn't that happy with them to be honest. Second half of the race was a bit of a handful on them, my quickest lap was on my 3rd!

I noticed in an earlier thread you said the engine rev's to 8500rpm, is that on a standard crank still?

Here are my in car videos from Monday’s race day.
Couldn't get the tyres buffed before the race so still had problems with the tyres going off after about 4 laps. Safety car in this race helped a bit with that fortunately.

Uunfortunately though it stayed dry for the day so wasn't really that competitive, car is still too soft for the dry - need more testing.

Anyway, the vids...

Had another race this weekend.

Only 1 change sinse last weekend at Eurofest - Some 16" Turini's with buffed tyres on! Finally.
They made a great improvement, another second and a half off my PB and a class pole!
Think the greasy track helped a lot though, love those conditions and was a great supprise to see first in class and 9th overall out of 37. Only Evos in front and 2 quick class B's!

The in car videos from the meeting...

My quickest qualifying lap (Class C pole):
Here

Full Qualy vid here:
Here

And the race video, thought I'd face the camera out of the back for a change as I only had Evo's infront of me and they were only going to fly off in to the distance.
Turned out quite good I thought:
Here

Was a bit annoying going from 1st to 3rd in one corner but got properly boxed out
Ah well, live and learn ay!

The new Turinis...

Love this pic, Evo-Evo-Evo-Evo-306! Big grin

Nice and shiney...

And I do get dirty...

Looked to be quick at Combe. Shame that you had a lack of fuel and I had a hole in my boost pipe though; would have liked to see how the little revvy 1.8 coped with the forced induction! (you were following me in the 11:30am session)

The rear has been converted to coilovers actually.
Currently has no ARB.

We need some testing time to try out some different spring rates/damper settings/ARB's etc.

Always wondered how Colin got around the regs LOL

looks a very well executed solution.

odd that you ruin no ARB, I guess the spring rate would be high enough not to need one? especially if you don't use one on the front.

hmm not sure about that, looks like there could be a large amount of binding although it is hard to tell from pictures, I guess th e regs limit you to keeping the beam hence why you haven't opted for turreted coil over set up?

you got a picture from wheel side with wheel off, nice work there though its just the lower shock mounts I can't figure out.

Yeah unfortunately the regs dont allow turreting and this was the best we to get the shocks a verticel as possible within the regs.
About 75% movement compared to wheel rather than the standard 30 ish from what I remember so that we still use plenty of spring rather than bounce on the top. We get no binding.
We just need more dry testing time to hone the spring rate selection etc which I'll hopefully have budget for in the new year.

Hi Alan,

Your car looks great, very interesting thread.

Can I just ask what radiator you are running, is it a 205 rad, and if so, how easy it was to sort out hoses to run to it - interested in the clearance it gives you over the top of the rad?

An old thread's resurrection (well, it worth a read again Wink )

but don't you know why did Alan changed the Colin Satchell / Sandy Brown throttle bodies to Jenvey ?

On the first page he started of showing a selection of parts he bought and there was a picture of a Satchell / Brown body, and later when the engine was assembled there were Jenveys on...

The reason why I'm asking is, that I want to get bodies, but can't decide between these two.

I think it was to run a twin staged injector setup, which couldnt be done on the sandy / satchell bodies.

Yes that was the reason, although Colin and Sandy have now developed a new set that can use 8 injectors.

The bodies on the first page look alot like Spiky's, I wonder if they are the same ones?
