Evening All.
My son has just aquired a 405 LeMans No 144 that he is renovating. I know it is not a 306 but thought someone might have an answer to his issue. It is currently a real shed but it does run, however it does not turn off with the key and continues to run once the key is removed. We removed the ignition barrel and have a new one coming however the odd thing is that as soon as we connect the battery we get lights on at the dash even with the barrel removed. Could it be an immobiliser issue or alternator or short to live??? Any help would be really appreciated.

Definitely sounds like a wiring issue to me...
