I have a standard engine gti6 with magnet exhaust and de cat running dta s40 management a single coil pack and normal ht leads, I've had it mapped but it's a nightmare to start when cold, struggles to turn over pops and bangs and starts eventually if the battery has not gone flat, it won't idle when cold and has a misfire low down in their revs, when warm tho it starts like a dream and runs fine through their rev range, is this normal? Does it need to be mapped better? Is there anything else wrong?

Why have you changed to a single coil pack and/or running with a DTA with a standard engine with only an exhaust as a modification? It seems a bit overkill, but as Welshpug says, your issue is the cold start mapping.

If it struggles to turn over and the battery and starter are good, sounds like you have too much advance while cranking. There are settings for cranking the engine over before it fires and starting tooth/position degrees.

It's tricky to get a 100% superb cold start map if you've driven it somewhere to be mapped as it won't be stone cold.

I'm running the same and in the cold, a bit of throttle when you start it and holding the revs up for 10 seconds or so works for me. If I don't it will die or rev lumpy.

I was gonna make it voice controlled so you have to shout 'Rikky's a c**t!' to start the car. Thumbs up

Shouldn't be an issue unless the injectors are particularly poor quality.

Had them tested by the manufacturer and by a specialist. Theyre fine. Only other thing is to raise the base pressure and hope it sorts it

Tbh my mate matty has the same issue on his 205 gti6 turbo. Maybe the idle stratergys on omex are rubbish.

Saying that it will start and idle. But if you blip the throttle it will just cut out and not catch the idle

Throttle enrichment and/or the tipout/fuel cut settings need tweaking.
